Zakat in Islam ~ Hi all readers! Zakat is a ritual in Islam. Zakat is giving some assets to some types of people who are entitled to receive it. Zakat is one of the obligations of wealthy Muslims. There are some basic things about that that I will explain in this article.
As usual, before I explain some basic things about zakat, I will quote one hadith that is specifically related to our discussion.
Hadith About Zakat in Islam
The hadith about Zakat in Islam that I mean is as follows:
The hadith I mean is as follows;
From Ibn Abbas radliyyallahu ‘anhuma, that the Prophet (Muhammad) sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam had sent Mua’adz to Yemen – he then mentioned his hadith. In the hadith there is a statement, “That indeed Allah has required them to pay zakat for their assets. (Zakat) is taken from those who are rich and given to those who are poor.” The hadith is narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim.
There are some important things related to the above hadith that we must know;
First; The hadith explains that rich Muslims must pay zakat.
Second; The hadith explains that Zakat is taken from the wealth of wealthy Muslims and given to poor Muslims (Fuqara’).
Third; The hadith explains that rich Muslims must sacrifice zakat. That is their obligation as a Muslim.
Fourth; The hadith explains, that the person who is obliged to take alms from rich Muslims is a leader or people who help him/her for that.
Fifth; The hadith explained that zakat should not be given to non-Muslims.
