From Ali radliyallahu ‘anhu, he said, “The Messenger of Allah (Prophet Muhammad) sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said, “If you have two hundred Dirhams and the money has reached one year, then there is an obligation to pay zakat of five Dirhams in the money. You have no obligation until you have twenty Dinars. If the money has reached one year, then there is an obligation to pay zakat of half a Dinar in the money. If the money has increased, then only multiplies need to be multiplied. There is no obligation to pay zakat for a treasure until the treasure reaches one year.” The hadith is narrated by Abu Daud.
