Women and Istihadhah; Obligations and Prohibitions

Islamic Law Reference: Women and Istihadhah ~ Hi all readers! In this article I will explain about one important thing that relates to women who are experiencing it. Istihadhah is blood that is not menstrual blood coming out of a woman’s vagina. In Islamic teachings there are several related women who are experiencing istihadhah which must be known both by women themselves or by men. This is very important, because it relates to chastity and household harmony, such as can a husband have sex with his wife who is experiencing this condition?

As always, before I explain more about women and Istihadhah, I will present the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad as follows;

From Aisah radliyallahu anha, she said, “Fatima bint Abi Hubaisy once came to the Prophet (Muhammad) sallallahu alaihi wa sallam then she said, “O Messenger of Allah! Indeed, I have a woman who is istihadhah, so I am not holy. Can I not pray?” He replied, “No! In fact, it is sweat, not menstruation. If your period comes then don’t pray! If that (menstruation) has been completed, then wash (cleanse) the blood then prays!” Al-Bukhari has the following hadith editorial, “Then pray for each prayer.”
