Witr Prayer Dua

اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنَّا نَسْـأَلُكَ اِيْمَانًا دَائِمًا ، وَنَسْأَلُكَ قَلْبًا خَاشِعًا ، وَنَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا ، وَنَسْأَلُكَ يَقِيْنًا صَادِقًا ، وَنَسْأَلُكَ عَمَلاً صَالِحًا ، وَنَسْأَلُكَ دِيْنًاقَيِّمًا ، وَنَسْأَلُكَ خَيْرًا كَثِيْرًا ، وَنَسْأَلُكَ الْعَفْوَ وَالْعَافِيَةَ ، وَنَسْأَلُكَ تَمَامَ الْعَافِيَةِ ، وَنَسْأَلُكَ الشُّكْرَ عَلَى الْعَافِيَةِ ، وَنَسْأَلُكَ الْغِنَاءَ عَنِ النَّاسِ

O Allah. Indeed, we ask You for steady faith, we ask You for a humble heart, we ask You for beneficial knowledge, we ask You for true belief, we ask You for righteous deeds, we ask You for righteous deeds. You are a righteous religion, we ask You for much goodness, we ask You for forgiveness and health, we ask You for perfect health, we ask You for gratitude for health, and we ask You for sufficient all humans.

اَللّٰهُمَّ رَبَّنَا تَقَبَّلْ مِنَّا صَلاَتَنَا وَصِيَامَنَا وَقِيَامَنَا وَتَخُشُّعَنَا وَتَضَرُّعَنَا وَتَعَبُّدَنَا وَتَمِّمْ تَقْصِيْرَنَا يَا اَللهُ يَااَللهُ يَااَللهُ يَااَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِيْنَ . وَصَلَّى اللهُ عَلَى خَيْرِ خَلْقِهِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلٰى اٰلِهِ وَصَحْبِهِ اَجْمَعِيْنَ ، وَالْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِيْنَ

O Allah, our Lord. Accept from us our prayers, our fasting, our evening prayers, our humility, our humility, our worship. Complete our negligence or shortcomings, O Allah, O Allah, O Allah, O the Most Merciful of the Merciful. May Allah's mercy be poured out on the best of His creatures, Muhammad, his family and his companions, all of them, and all praise belongs to Allah, Lord of the worlds.

اللَّهُمَّ أَعِنِّي عَلَى ذِكْرِكَ وَشُكْرِكَ وَحُسْنِ عِبَادَتِكَ

O Allah, help me to remember You, be grateful for Your favors, and worship You well.

Dua Qunoot Witr

The second important thing about the witr prayer dua and dua Qunoot Witr that I will explain now is the dua Qunoot Witr. I want you to understand that because it is one of the important topics in this article.

One important thing about the dua Qunoot that I want to explain before I explain about the dua Qunoot Witr is that the purpose of reading the dua Qunoot is for good. We can read it when we are praying so that Allah will do us good or so that Allah will defeat our enemies.

We can find this explanation in the following hadiths:

عَنْ أَنَسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ قَنِتَ شَهْرًا , بَعْدَ رُكُوْعٍ , يَدَعْوُا عَلَى أَحْيَاءٍ مِنَ الْعَرَبِ ثُمَّ تَرَكَهُ . مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ

From Anas radliyallahu anhu, "That the Prophet (Muhammad) sallallahu alaihi wa sallam did Qunoot for one month, after bowing. He prayed to defeat a group of Arabs, then he left (did not do Qunoot)." The hadith is narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim.

وَلِأَحْمَدَ وَالدَّارُقُطْنِيِّ وَنَحْوِهِ مِنْ وَجْهٍ آخَرٍ , وَزَادَ : وَأَمَّا فِيْ الصُّبْحِ فَلَمْ يَزَلْ يَقْنَتُ حَتَّى فَارَقَ الدُّنْيَا

Ahmad and ad-Darquthni have a history of the same hadith but from other transmission lines. There is an additional editorial hadith, "As for Fajr prayer, he always performs Qunoot until he dies."

عَنْ أَنَسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ لَا يَقْنَتُ إِلَّا إِذَا دَعَا لِقَوْمٍ , أَوْ دَعَا عَلَى قَوْمٍ . صَحَّحَهُ ابْنُ خُزَيْمَةَ

From Anas radliyallahu anhu, "That the Prophet (Muhammad) sallallahu alaihi wa sallam did not do Qunoot unless he prayed to help a people or he prayed to defeat a people." Ibn Khuzaimah considered the hadith valid.

Now, what is dua Qunoot Witr can we recite?

There are many duas Qunoot Witr that we can read. But I recommend the dua Qunoot below:

اللَّهُمَّ اهْدِنِيْ فِيْمَنْ هَدَيْتَ ، وَعَافِنِيْ فِيْمَنْ عَافَيْتَ ، وَتَوَلَّنِيْ فِيْمَنْ تَوَلَّيْتَ ، وَبَارِكْ لِيْ فِيْمَا أَعْطَيْتَ ، وَقِنِيْ شَرَّ مَا قَضَيْتَ ، فَإِنَّكَ تَقْضِيْ وَلَا يُقْضَى عَلَيْكَ ، وَإِنَّهُ لَا يَذِلُّ مَنْ وَالَيْتَ ، تَبَارَكْتَ رَبَّنَا وَتَعَالَيْتَ

O Allah, give me instructions as you have given instructions. Give me health like the person you have given health. Take care of me like the person you have guarded. Give blessings to me in everything you have given. Take care of me from the ugliness of things that You have set. Surely you make decisions and not make decisions. Surely no one will be despised by someone whom you have led. Your goodness continues to grow and you are holy from everything that is not right for you.

Maybe now you are wondering: why do I recommend the dua Qunoot Witr? The answer is because it is the dua Qunoot Witr that Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wa sallam has taught us. We can find this explanation in the hadith below:

عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا أَنَّهُ قَالَ ؛ عَلَّمَنِيْ رَسُوْلُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَلِمَاتٍ أَقُوْلُهُنَّ فِيْ قُنُوْتِ الْوِتْرِ ؛ اللَّهُمَّ اهْدِنِيْ فِيْمَنْ هَدَيْتَ ، وَعَافِنِيْ فِيْمَنْ عَافَيْتَ ، وَتَوَلَّنِيْ فِيْمَنْ تَوَلَّيْتَ ، وَبَارِكْ لِيْ فِيْمَا أَعْطَيْتَ ، وَقِنِيْ شَرَّ مَا قَضَيْتَ ، فَإِنَّكَ تَقْضِيْ وَلَا يُقْضَى عَلَيْكَ ، وَإِنَّهُ لَا يَذِلُّ مَنْ وَالَيْتَ ، تَبَارَكْتَ رَبَّنَا وَتَعَالَيْتَ . رَوَاهُ الْخَمْسَةُ

From Hasan bin Ali radliyallahu anhumaa, in fact he said, "The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam has taught me a number of sentences that I said when I read the Qunoot in Witr prayer, "O Allah, give me instructions as you have given instructions. Give me health like the person you have given health. Take care of me like the person you have guarded. Give blessings to me in everything you have given. Take care of me from the ugliness of things that You have set. Surely you make decisions and not make decisions. Surely no one will be despised by someone whom you have led. Your goodness continues to grow and you are holy from everything that is not right for you." The hadith is narrated by five people (Ahmad, Abu Daud, at-Tirmidhi, an-Nasa'I, Ibn Majah).
