The word "Haram" in Arabic has two meanings:
Something not to do or not to do
We can find an explanation of that in the sentence “ الزِّنَا حَرَامٌ ” which means “Zina is haram”
Something noble
We can find an explanation of that in the sentence “ البَيْتُ الحَرَامُ ” which means “Honored house”.

Not Doing Obligations After Marriage
What is meant by obligations after marriage are things that you must do after marriage. There are many obligations after marriage. We can understand that as your responsibility as husband or wife.
In general, all basic needs, such as housing, eating, drinking, and clothing are obligations after marriage. So, if you are married, then you have to provide a house, food, drink, and clothes for your wife or husband.
I say “for your wife or your husband” because nowadays this obligation can be done by a wife and a husband. But in some areas, this obligation is the husband's obligation. And, in fact, if we read some Islamic literature about it, then we will find an explanation that this obligation is the husband's obligation, a wife is only encouraged to help her husband do that.
Hurting Husband or Wife
The second haram after marriage that I mean here is to hurt the husband or wife. You can't do that after you're married. Why is that? The answer is because Islam strictly forbids it. If you hurt your husband or your wife, then it can get you divorced. In Islam, divorce is something that is permissible, but Allah does not like it.
Betrayal to Your Husband or Wife
The third haram thing after marriage that I mean here is betraying your husband or wife. Betrayal can be committed by anyone. It is very painful. It becomes strictly forbidden if you do that to your husband or your wife.
There are many types of betrayal after marriage. One of them is Zina. That's why if there are Muslims who commit Zina after marriage then they must be whipped to death. I've explained that in several previous articles.
