And, in this article I will explain the nineteen virtues of Zakat according to Islam.

Virtues of Zakat

As for the nineteen virtues of Zakat according to Islam, what I mean is as follows:

  • The Nature of the Heaven-dwellers.

What is meant that paying Zakat is the nature of the people who will enter Heaven is that people who pay Zakat will get a very large reward from Allah. As Muslims, we must already know that one of the ways Allah rewards someone is by giving him permission to enter Heaven.

We can find this explanation in the Quran below:

“Surely those who are righteous are in gardens (jannah) and in the springs, taking what is given to them by their Rabb. Indeed, they were in the world before that people who did good. They sleep very little at night, and at the end of the night they ask forgiveness (of Allah). And in their property there is a right for the poor who ask and the poor who do not receive a share. " (Adz-Dzariyat: 15-19).

  • Obtaining Allah's Grace.

Paying Zakat is one of the rituals that are not only related to bodily movements, such as prayer and fasting. Zakat is a ritual related to gestures, sincerity, and wealth. That's why only those who truly believe in Allah are able to do it. That's why people who pay Zakat will receive mercy from Allah.

We can find this explanation in the Quran below;

“And those who believe, male and female, some of them (are) helping others. They command (do) the ma'ruf, prevent those who are evil, establish prayers, pay zakat, and they obey Allah and His Messenger. They will be given mercy by Allah. " (At-Taubah: 71).

  • Fertilize Zakat.

What is meant by Zakat will fertilize Zakat assets is that someone who pays zakat will not experience a loss. Allah will give the person more wealth.

We can find this explanation in the Quran below:

"Allah destroys usury and fertilizes alms." (Al-Baqarah: 276).

  • Given Shade from the Heat of the Last Day.

The point is, that people who pay Zakat will receive protection from Allah on the Day of Judgment. We can find this explanation in the hadith below;

The Messenger of Allah (Prophet Muhammad) sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said, "The seven groups that will be shaded by Allah under His auspices on a day that has no shade except His: a just leader, a young man who grows up in the obedience of Allah, someone whose heart always longs for mosques (to perform worship), two people who love each other because of Allah (they both meet and separate because of Allah), a man who is invited by a beautiful and honorable woman to commit adultery but he said , "Verily, I fear Allah.", Someone who gives charity and keeps it a secret so that his left hand does not know what his right hand has given him, someone who remembers Allah in a lonely state and his eyes shed tears (crying). "

  • Opening the Doors of Sustenance.

The point is that Zakat or paying Zakat can be the cause of opening the doors of sustenance. In other words, paying Zakat will not reduce one's assets.

We can find this explanation in the hadith below:

The Messenger of Allah (Prophet Muhammad) sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said, "Alms (or Zakat) will not reduce wealth."

  • Because Kindness Declines.

Zakat is the cause of various goodnesses to fall, and refusing to pay zakat is the cause of the obstruction of various kinds of goodness.

… Not a people withhold zakat on their property but they are prevented from getting rain from the sky. If it weren't for livestock, they wouldn't get rain …

  • Eliminating Mistakes.

Zakat is able to erase sins and mistakes. From Mu'adz bin Jabal, the Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said:

The Messenger of Allah (Prophet Muhammad) sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said, "Almsgiving can extinguish mistakes as water can extinguish fire."

  • Zakat will be a protector on the Day of Judgment.

The Messenger of Allah (Prophet Muhammad) sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said, "Everyone will be in the shade of his alms practice until he gets a decision among humans."

  • Zakat is able to prevent a person from Allah's wrath and bad death (su'ul khatimah).

The Messenger of Allah (Prophet Muhammad) sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said, "Alms can bury Allah's wrath and prevent an ugly state of death."

  • Helping the Poor from Poverty.

We can find an explanation of that in the hadith below:

From Ibn Abbas radliyyallahu anhuma, that the Prophet (Muhammad) sallallahu alayhi wa sallam had sent Mua'adz to Yemen - he then mentioned his hadith. In the hadith there is a statement, "That indeed Allah has required them to pay zakat for their assets. (Zakat) is taken from those who are rich and given to those who are poor." The hadith is narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim.

  • Evidence of the Perpetrator's Faith.

In the book "Syarh Al-Mumti" it is explained that paying zakat is proof of the truth of the faith of the person who does it. Because treasure is loved by the soul, and we will not sacrifice something that is loved except for expecting something that is more loved. From there we can see the honesty of the perpetrator in seeking the pleasure of Allah.

  • Improve Morals.

Ibn Qayyim in the book "Zadul Ma'ad" explains that zakat cleanses the morals of the person who takes it out and enlarges the chest. People who give zakat enter into the group of generous people and are excluded from the class of hunks. A person who pays zakat, with his willingness and generosity, will feel spaciousness in his soul.

  • Safeguarding the Treasure of the Wicked.

Zakat will safeguard property and protect it from the attention of needy people and the interference of bad people.

  • Pillars of Muslim Communities.

It is also stated in the book Al-Fiqih Al Islami wa Adilatuhu that Zakat is the participation of a Muslim in fulfilling his social obligations in order to support the joints of the life of the Islamic community. Namely by giving it when needed, preparing troops, resisting enemy attacks, and helping the needy to make ends meet.

  • A Form of Being Grateful for Assets.

Al-Qurafi in the book "Adz-Dzakhirah" explains that zakat is a form of expression of gratitude for the blessings of our possessions.

  • Paying zakat is one way to protect property from the potential envy of the poor and the weak.
  • Paying zakat can strengthen social relationships between individuals.
  • Paying zakat can help poor people and people who need material assistance.
  • Paying zakat can help develop the economy in society.
  • Paying zakat is a form of gratitude to Allah because He has given a lot of wealth to people who have paid zakat. And so forth.
