Speaking in Prayer (Salat)

Speaking in Prayer (Salat) ~ Hi all readers! In this article, I will explain the law of a problem that might be done by someone. Yup! The problem I mean is talking when someone is praying. Usually, it is done by people who do not understand the teachings of Islam, especially what should be done and what should not be done when someone is praying. Usually, those who do it are small children.

As always, before I explain about speaking in prayer (salat), I will quote one hadith that is specifically related to our discussion.

Hadith About Speaking During Prayer (Salat)

The hadith about speaking during prayer (salat) that I mean is as follows;

From Mu’awiyah ibn Hakam radliyallaahu ‘anhaa, he said, “Allah’s Messenger sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam said, “Surely there must be no human speech in this prayer. Indeed, it is tasbih (purifying Allah), takbir, and recitation of the Qur’an.” The hadith is narrated by Muslim.

There are some important things related to the hadith above that we need to know;

One; When we pray, we should not say anything other than the recitations in the prayers that have been determined, whether for a need or something else, whether it is for the good of prayer or something else.

Two; There are differences of opinion among Islamic law experts about that. Ash-Shafi’I, Malik, and Ahmad said that the person who had just converted to Islam said a few words other than the words of prayer, the prayer was not canceled. Abu Hanifah said that the person who had just converted to Islam said a few words other than the words in the prayer, the prayer was canceled.

Three; We can do a little movement when we pray if we need it, like scratching our head or something else. It can’t damage prayer.
