Standard Size of Mosque ~ Hi all readers! In this article, I will explain the standard size of the mosque. In the previous article, I explained, that we should not compete to build mosques because it is not needed and is very dangerous if it is done. The question is, how much are the standard size of mosque and its height?

As always, before I answer the question above, I will quote one hadith specifically related to our discussion.

Hadith About Standard Size of Mosque

The hadith about standard size of mosque that I mean is as follows;

From Ibn Abbas radliyallaahu ‘anhumaa, he said, “Allah’s Messenger sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam said, “I was not ordered to boast in building mosques.” The hadith is narrated by Abu Daud.

There are some important things related to the hadith above that we need to know;

One; The hadith explains, that we should not build a mosque in excess of necessity.

Two; We must not decorate the mosque with gold and silver. But there are differences of opinion between Islamic law experts about that. Abu Hanifah allowed it to respect the mosque but the fees should not come from the Baitul Mal. The majority of legal experts argue that the prohibition is li al-Karaahah. The meaning is that it is better not to do it even though the costs come from the government or from the Baitul Mal, because that includes the category of using money for needs that are not needed. Again, the main purpose of building a mosque is for a place of worship, not a museum.

Three; The hadith explains the miracle of the Prophet Muhammad. In this hadith he tells what will happen in the future, in the present.
