Reward for People Who Care for Janazah (Funeral)

Posted on

Hi all readers! In this article, I will explain the reward for people who care for janazah (funeral) until he/she is buried. As we already know, Muslims who have died have some rights that must be given by Muslims who are still alive, such as being bathed, given clothes, praying for him /her, and buried. Of course, not all people who are still alive are willing to do that, especially if the janazah (funeral) is not liked by people who are still alive. That is why Allah will give a special reward for people who care for janazah (funeral).

As usual, before I explain the reward for people who care for janazah (funeral) further, I will quote one hadith that is specifically related to our discussion.

Hadith About Reward for People Who Care for Janazah (Funeral)

The hadith about reward for people who care for janazah (funeral) that I mean is as follows;

From Abu Hurairah radliyallahu ‘anhu, he said, “Messenger of Allah sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said, “Whoever comes to janazah (funeral) until he prays for the deceased, then he gets a reward as big as Qirath. Whoever comes to janazah (funeral) (and prayers for janazah) until the deceased is buried, then he gets a reward of two Qiraths.” Then asked, “What are the two Qiraths?” He said, “Like two big mountains.” The hadith is narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim.

There are some important things about this hadith that we need to know;

One; The hadith explains about the advice to go to Janazah, pray for him/her, deliver him/her to the grave (until he/she is buried).
