Posted on

Hi all readers! Are you looking for an explanation of Ramadan rules for married couples? If your answer is “Yes”, congratulations! Now you are reading the right article. Why? Because that is what I will explain in this article. As Muslims, we must understand that. That’s why I wrote this article. So, you should read it to the end!

Specifically, there are four important things about Ramadan rules for married couples which I will explain in this article. The four important things I mean are as follows:

  1. Can Husband Touch Wife Breast in Ramadan?
  2. What Is Allowed Between Husband and Wife in Ramadan?
  3. Can Husband and Wife Kiss During Ramadan?
  4. What Are Couples Not Allowed to Do During Ramadan?

Can Husband Touch Wife Breast in Ramadan?

The first important thing about Ramadan rules for married couples that I will explain now is “can husband touch wife breast in Ramadan?”. I want you to understand that because it is one of the important questions about Ramadan rules that must be well understood. In addition, there are some Muslims who do not understand it well.

For married people, touching the wife’s breasts is something commonplace. The point is that it is often done by them. It makes no difference whether they are Muslims or non-Muslims.

In discussing the relationship between husband and wife, touching the wife’s breasts can be categorized as one of the things that can make their relationship more harmonious if it is done voluntarily. Islam strongly recommends that they have a harmonious relationship and do not hurt each other. A husband must love and respect his wife. A wife must love and respect her husband.

We can find explanations that married Muslims should love and respect their spouses in the following verses of Quran and hadith:

O you who have believed, it is not lawful for you to inherit women by compulsion. And do not make difficulties for them in order to take [back] part of what you gave them unless they commit a clear immorality. And live with them in kindness. For if you dislike them – perhaps you dislike a thing and Allah makes therein much good. (An-Nisa [2]: 19).

Men are in charge of women by [right of] what Allah has given one over the other and what they spend [for maintenance] from their wealth. So righteous women are devoutly obedient, guarding in [the husband’s] absence what Allah would have them guard. But those [wives] from whom you fear arrogance – [first] advise them; [then if they persist], forsake them in bed; and [finally], strike them. But if they obey you [once more], seek no means against them. Indeed, Allah is ever Exalted and Grand. (An-Nisa [2]: 34).

“The best of believers are those who are best in character. And the best of you are those who are chosen (morally) to women.”

From Abu Hurairah radiyallahu anhu, from the Prophet (Muhammad) sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, he said, “Whoever has two wives and he love one of them more, then he will come on the Day of Resurrection in a tilted state.”

If we read some Islamic legal literature on the relationship between husband and wife in Islam, we will not find an explanation that specifically explains that it is permissible for a husband to touch his wife’s breasts. The reason is because the discussion is very particular.

But if we want to know the legality of husband touching his wife’s breasts in Islam, we can find it in the discussion of the romantic relationship between husband and wife. For example, we can find an explanation that Islam allows husband and wife to bathe together. We can find this explanation in the hadith below:

عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ : كُنْتُ أَغْتَسِلُ أَنَا وَرَسُوْلُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ تَخْتَلِفُ أَيْدِيْنَا فِيْهِ مِنَ الْجَنَابَةِ . مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ

From Aisha radliyallahu anha, she said, “I once bathed with the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam in one container because of Janabah. Our hands are different in them.” The hadith is narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim.

In the above hadith it is explained that the Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam once bathed with Aisha bint Abu Bakr, one of his wives. Bathing with your wife is one of the things that can make the relationship between husband and wife more romantic. Likewise, touching the wife’s breasts.

In the previous few paragraphs, I have explained that touching the wife’s breasts is one of the things that can increase the harmony of the husband and wife relationship. What it means is that it is permissible in Islam. But maybe there are some Muslims who wonder, “can husband touch wife breast in ramadan?”. It is a common question for married Muslims. They worry that if they do that, their fast will be broken.

In general, touching wife breast in Ramadan is permissible. The meaning is that the husband can touch his wife’s breasts in Ramadan. But it would be very dangerous if it could break the fast. In some cases, it (touching the wife’s breasts) can break the fast.

Touching Wife Breast That Break Fasting

Before I explain about touching wife breast that break fasting, I want to explain a few things that can break the fast. I want you to understand all of that first so that you can understand the answers to these questions well and easily.

In general, if we read some literacies of Islamic rules about fasting, we will find eight things that can spoil fasting. The eight things I mean are as follows:

One: if something gets into the body orifices on purpose. For example, if water enters the throat on purpose, then our fast is broken.

Two: treating by inserting objects (medicine or other objects) in one of two ways (qubul and anus).

Three: vomiting on purpose. If a person vomits accidentally or vomits suddenly (ghalabah) then his fast is still considered valid as long as none of his vomit is swallowed again. If the vomit is swallowed intentionally then the fast is invalidated.

Four: having sex with the opposite sex (jima’) on purpose.

Five: the discharge of semen (sperm) is caused by touching the skin.

Six: menstruation and puerperium.

Seven: crazy.

Eight: murtad or leaving Islam.

Those are eight things about things that can break fasting. As Muslims, we must understand it all.

If you want to understand “when does touching wife breast break fasting?”, you must understand the fifth thing that I have explained above. The fifth thing that can damage fasting is the release of semen (sperm) caused by touching the skin.

So, if you ask me, “when does touching wife breast break fasting?”, the answer is if it causes your sperm to come out.

Touching Wife’s Breast That Doesn’t Break Fasting

Before I explain about “touching wife breast that doesn’t break fasting, I really hope you understand the explanation about touching wife breast that break fasting. If you have understood it, you will know the answer to the question we are discussing.

In the discussion about touching wife breast that break fasting, I already explained that touching wife breasts can break your fast if it causes your sperm to come out. But if it doesn’t cause your sperm to come out, then it doesn’t break the fast. That’s the answer. Very simple.

That is a brief explanation of “can husband touch wife breast in ramadan?”. As Muslims, we must understand that.

What Is Allowed Between Husband and Wife in Ramadan?

The second important point about Ramadan rules for married couples which I will explain now is “what is allowed between husband and wife in Ramadan?”. I want you to understand that because it is one of the important questions about the rules of Ramadan that must be well understood. In addition, there are some Muslims who do not understand it well.

In general, if we read some of the literacies of Islamic law, we will find an explanation that some of the things that husbands and wives are allowed to do in Ramadan are as follows:

One: kiss.

Kissing is one of the things husband and wife can do in Ramadan when they are both fasting. Of course, this is on the condition that they don’t swallow their partner’s saliva. If they swallow their partner’s saliva, their fast is broken. Kissing like that should not be done in Ramadan when they are fasting.

Two: hug each other.

Hugging each other is the second thing husband and wife can do in Ramadan when they are both fasting. Hugging I mean here is a hug that does not make them both secrete their own sperm. If their sperm both come out due to hugging, their fast is broken. Hugging like that is not allowed in Ramadan.

Three: touch each other.

Touching each other is the third thing a husband and wife can do in Ramadan when they are both fasting. By touching what I mean here is touching that does not make them both secrete their own sperm. If their sperm both come out due to contact, their fast is broken. Touching like that is not allowed in Ramadan.

Four: sleep together.

Sleeping together is the fourth thing a husband and wife can do in Ramadan when they are both fasting. Sleeping together I mean here is a sleep that does not make them both secrete their own sperm. If their sperm both come out from sleeping together, their fast is broken. Sleeping together like that is not allowed in Ramadan.

Five: do things that do not break the fast, such as sex and so on.

That is a brief explanation of “what is allowed between husband and wife in Ramadan?”. As Muslims, we must understand that.

Can Husband and Wife Kiss During Ramadan?

The third important point about Ramadan rules for married couples that I will explain now is “can husband and wife kiss during Ramadan?”. I want you to understand that because it is one of the important questions about the rules of Ramadan that must be well understood. In addition, there are some Muslims who do not understand it well.

A kiss is a sign of affection. But it should not be done carelessly in Islam. What it means is that you are not allowed to kiss a woman who is not your wife and who is not your mahram. You also shouldn’t kiss other men on their lips. If you want to kiss another guy, you can kiss their forehead. It is allowed in Islam. We can find this explanation in the hadith below:

عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا : أَنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيْقَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَبَّلَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهِ . رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ

From Aisha radiyallahu anha, that indeed Abu Bakr radliyallahu anhu kissed the Prophet (Muhammad) sallallahu alayhi wa sallam after he died. This hadith was narrated by al-Bukhari.

In addition, we can find an explanation that it is permissible for a husband to kiss his wife in the hadith below:

عَنْ عَائِشَةَ : أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَبَّلَ بَعْضَ نِسَائِهِ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ وَلَمْ يَتَوَضَّأْ . أَخْرَجَهُ أَحْمَدُ وَضَعَّفَهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ

From Aisha, that the Prophet (Muhammad) sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam once kissed some of his wives then he went out to pray and he did not perform ablution.” The hadith was narrated by Ahmad and the link in the chain was considered weak by al-Bukhari.

If we read the eight things that can damage fasting as I have explained in the previous paragraphs, we will find no explanation that kissing can ruin fasting. What this means is that in general a husband can kiss his wife during Ramadan. But in some cases, kissing can break the fast. This is what I will explain in the following paragraphs.

Kissing That Break Fasting

Before I explain about kissing that breaks fasting, I want you to understand the first thing that can break the fast as I explained earlier. The first thing I mean is if something goes into the body orifice on purpose.

Now, if you ask me about kissing that breaks fasting, the answer is that when a husband and wife kiss, either one of them or they both swallow their partner’s saliva. Kisses like that can break the fast.

Kissing That Doesn’t Break Fasting

Before I explain about kissing that does not break fasting, I really hope you understand the explanation of kissing that breaks fasting. In that explanation I have explained that when husband and wife kiss, there is one of them both or they both swallow their partner’s saliva. That’s the kiss that can break the fast.

So, if you ask me about kissing that does not break fasting, the answer is if no saliva is swallowed when husband and wife kiss. That’s the answer.

That’s a brief explanation of “can husband and wife kiss during Ramadan?”. As Muslims, we must understand that.
