Qabliyah prayer and Ba’diyah prayer and the virtues of both ~ Hi all readers! In this article, I will explain the Qabliyah and Ba’diyah prayers along with the virtues of both. There is one important thing that I want to say, that there are special rules for doing these two types of sunnah prayers. For this reason, I wrote this article.

As always, before I explain Qabliyah prayer and Ba’diyah prayer and the virtues of both further, I will quote some of the hadith that are specifically related to our discussion.

Hadith About Qabliyah Prayer and Ba’diyah Prayer

The hadith about Qabliyah prayer and Ba’diyah prayer and the virtues of both that I mean is as follows:

عَنْ اِبْنِ عُمَرٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ ؛ حَفِظْتُ مِنَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَشْرُ رَكَعَاتٍ ؛ رَكْعَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ الظُّهْرِ وَرَكْعَتَيْنِ بَعْدَهَا ، وَرَكْعَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ الْمَغْرِبِ فِيْ بَيْتِهِ ، وَرَكْعَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ الْعِشَاءِ فِيْ بَيْتِهِ ، وَرَكْعَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ الصُّبْحِ . مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ . وَفِيْ رِوَايَةٍ ؛ وَرَكْعَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ الْجُمُعَةِ فِيْ بَيْتِهِ . وَلِمُسْلِمٍ ؛ كَانَ إِذَا طَلَعَ الْفَجْرُ لَا يُصَلِّي إِلَّا رَكْعَتَيْنِ خَفِيْفَتَيْنِ

From Ibn Umar radliyallaahu ‘anhumaa, he said,” I have memorized ten rak’ahs from the Prophet (Muhammad) sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam; two rak’ahs before the Dhuhr and two rak’ahs afterwards, two rak’ahs after Maghrib in his house, two rak’ahs after Isha in his house, and two rak’ahs before Shubuh. ‘The hadith is narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim. In another history explained, “And two rak’ahs after Friday prayers in his house.” Muslims have a hadith history, “If the dawn has risen, then he does not pray except for only two short rak’ahs.”

عَنْ أُمِّ حَبِيْبَةَ أُمِّ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ ؛ سَمِعْتُ رَسُوْلَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُوْلُ ؛ مَنْ صَلَّى اِثْنَتَي عَشَرَةَ رَكْعَةً فِيْ يَوْمِهِ وَلَيْلَتِهِ بُنِيَ لَهُ بِهِنَّ بَيْتٌ فِيْ الْجَنَّةِ . رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ وَفِيْ رِوَايَةٍ ، تَطَوُّعًا . وِلِلتِّرْمِذِيِّ نَحْوُهُ وَزَادَ ؛ أَرْبَعًا قَبْلَ الظُّهْرِ وَبَعْدَهَا ، وَرَكْعَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ الْمَغْرِبِ وَرَكْعَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ الْعِشَاءِ ، وَرَكْعَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ صَلَاةِ الْفَجْرِ

From Umm Habibah, Ummah Mumineen, radliyallaahu ‘anhumaa, she said, “I have heard the Messenger of Allah sallallaahu’ alaihi wa sallam said,” Whoever prays twelve rak’ahs in the day and night, then with that will be built a house in Heaven for him. “The hadith is narrated by Muslim. In another narration, it is explained, “(that is all – my addition) sunnah prayer.” At-Tirimidzi had a history of such hadith and he added, “Four rakaat before the Dhuhr and after, two rak’ahs after Maghrib, two rak’ahs after Isha, and two rakaat before Shubuh. “
