Prayer (Salat) in Vehicle and How to Do It

Prayer (Salat) in Vehicle

Prayer (Salat) in Vehicle ~ Hi all readers! In this article, I will explain prayer (salat) in vehicle. As ordinary human beings, of course, we cannot escape from activities, whether for work, traveling, or something else. But as Muslims, we have many obligations that we should not leave behind. Among those obligations is prayer. Sometimes the problem we face when we want to pray is that we are not in the house, or we don't have time to enter a room, whether it’s a mosque, a house, or something else, to pray.

how to pray in car, how to pray namaz in car, salah in car, namaz in car, how to pray in the car islam, how to pray in a car islam, can you read namaz in the car, is it permissible to pray in the car, how to pray in a car, car prayer islam, can you pray in the car, praying in a car, praying in the car, can you pray namaz in the car, can u pray in car, how to pray in car islam, praying in car islam, how to pray when travelling in car, prayer in car, how to read namaz in car, how to pray salah in car, pray in car, how to pray in the car, praying in car,

The consequence is that we have to pray in vehicle, whether it's a car, bus, train, taxi, or something else. The question is, what is the law of prayer on a vehicle and how do you do it?

As always, before I answer the question above, I will quote the two hadith that are specifically related to our discussion.

Hadith About Prayer (Salat) in Vehicle

The hadith about prayer (salat) in vehicle that I mean is as follows;

From ‘Amir bin Rabi’ah radliyallaahu ‘anhu he said, “I have seen the Messenger of Allah sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam pray on his vehicle wherever the vehicle drove.” The hadith was narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim.

From Abu Daud from the hadith narrated by Anas radliyallaahu ‘anhu, “If he (Prophet Muhammad) is traveling then he wants to perform sunnah prayers, then he exposes his camel towards qibla. He then did takbir then prayed facing which direction his vehicle was facing.”

There are some important things related to the hadith above that we need to know;

  • The sunnah prayer performed on the vehicle is valid even though it is not facing the qiblah. But that is the condition, when someone does takbir he must face the qiblah first.
  • Mandatory prayer (salat) must not be made on vehicles that do not lead to qiblah, because facing the qiblaا is one of the legal requirements for prayer.

All readers! If we understand the short explanation above, then of course we already know the answer to the question I said in the first paragraph. In essence we are allowed to pray on a vehicle, even the Prophet Muhammad did it. But we need to pay attention, that the main requirement if we want to pray on the vehicle is that our vehicle must face the qibla first. After that, even though the vehicle we are riding faces in the other direction when we are praying, our prayers are still valid. That applies to all sunnah prayers.

As for the obligatory prayers, such as the Dhuhur prayer, the Asr prayer, etc., on the second point I have stated, that the obligatory prayer should not be carried out on the vehicle on the grounds that there is a possibility that the vehicle we are riding will face in the direction other than the qiblah direction. But for me personally, if if the vehicle we were riding in would continue to face toward the qiblah as long as we did the obligatory prayer, then it would not matter; we may do it.

That is a brief explanation of prayer (salat) in vehicle. Now, do you understand? The problem is simple and the explanation that I have conveyed is very clear. So, I hope you understand. But, if you want to ask, please ask!

I think that is enough for this article! May be useful! Amen!

See you again in the next article!
