Solution If We Cannot Pray (Salat) with Standing ~ Hi all readers! In this article, I will explain the solution for a sick person if he cannot pray by standing up. Actually, the information I will explain now is not only for sick people. Basically, if there is someone who cannot perform the prayer by standing for several reasons, such as illness, fear of death, etc., then he may pray in other ways. But not all methods can be used. Islam has arranged everything about it.
As always, before I explain the solution if we cannot pray (Salat) with standing further, I will quote some of the hadith that are specifically related to our discussion. Pay attention!
Hadith About Solution If We Cannot Pray (Salat) with Standing
The hadith about the solution if we cannot pray (Salat) with standing further that I mean is as follows:
From Imran bin Hashin radliyallaahu anhu, that the Prophet sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam said, “Pray by standing up. If you are unable (standing), then pray by sitting down. If you are unable (sitting), then pray by sleeping on your side. If you are unable to sleep on your side, then give a signal with your head.” The hadith is narrated by al-Bukhari.
From Jabir radliyallaahu anhu, that the Prophet (Muhammad) sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam once said to a sick person — he had prayed on a pillow (Prophet Muhammad then threw it) -, “Pray on the ground if you can. If you can’t, then give a signal and make your prostration less than bowing to you.” This hadith is narrated by al-Baihaqi.
There are some important things related to the hadith above that we need to know;
One; A Muslim must pray five times a day (Shubuh, Dhuhur, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha).
Two; When someone is praying, then he must stand up unless he has reasons that can be justified by Islam, such as illness, fear of drowning, and so on.
Three; The hadith above explains how to pray for people who cannot stand; if he is unable to stand, he may pray by sitting, if he is unable to sit, then he may pray by sleeping on his side, if he is unable to sleep on his side, then he prays by gesturing with his head.
Four; The second hadith explains, that we should not pray on the pillow.
