Are We Allowed to Pray Dhuhr Twice?

Are We Allowed to Pray Dhuhr Twice? ~ Hi all readers! In this article, I will explain the law of Dhuhr prayer, or other obligatory prayers, twice. For example; if we have prayed Dhuhr alone, after that we find other people who have not prayed Dhuhr, are we allowed to pray Dhuhr again with that person?

Are We Allowed to Pray Dhuhr Twice

As always, before I answer the question above, I will quote a hadith that is specifically related to our discussion. Pay attention!

Hadith About Pray Dhuhr Twice

The hadith about pray Dhuhr twice that I mean is as follows:

From Yazid bin al-Aswad radliyallaahu ‘anhu, that in fact he never prayed with the Messenger of Allah sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam. He was with two people who did not pray. Allah's Messenger then called them. Then they both came. Their veins move. The Messenger of Allah then said to both of them, "What made you two not pray with us?" The two of them said, "Indeed we have prayed on our journey." The Messenger of Allah said, "Don't do it. If you have prayed on your journey then you find the imam who has not prayed, then pray with him. Surely that (prayer with the priest) is an additional reward for you two." The hadith is narrated by Ahmad.

There are some important things related to the hadith above that we need to know;

  • The hadith explains the great authority of the Prophet Muhammad
  • The hadith teaches that we must ask someone who is different from us about the reason.
  • The hadith explains, that the Prophet Muhammad was very concerned about the condition of people in prayer and showed people who did not know something right.
  • The hadith explains, that obligatory prayer can be done outside the mosque (not with the imam).
  • The hadith explains, that if a person has prayed alone, then he knows that there is a priest who has not prayed, then that person is recommended to pray again with him. Example; if we have prayed Dhuhur alone, if a few minutes after that we find people who will do the Dhuhr prayer, then we are recommended to pray Dhuhr again. The status of the Dhuhr prayer that we first do alone is obligatory prayer, while the second Dhuhr prayer that we do with others is the sunnah (suggestion).
  • There are differences of opinion among Islamic law experts about the fifth point. Abu Hanifah said that repeating the prayer is for Maghrib prayers and Shubuh prayer. Ash-Shafi'i said, that the repetition could be for all prayers. Malik said, that if the person had prayed with someone else, then he would not repeat it.

That is a brief explanation of pray Dhuhr. Do you understand? If you want to ask, please ask!

I think that is enough for this article. May be useful! Amen!

See you again in the next article!
