Hi all readers! In this article, I will explain the obligation for people who see janazah (funeral). As an explanation, if we are now sitting, then suddenly there are some people who are walking to deliver the body to the grave, then there is an obligation that we must do. There is a specific purpose why Islam requires us to do that. As Muslims, we must know that.
By the way, do you already know what is the obligation for people who see janazah (funeral)? If you don’t know that yet, then you should read this article to the end!
As usual, before I explain the obligation for people who see janazah (funeral), I will quote one hadith that is specifically related to our discussion.
Hadith About Obligation for People Who See Janazah (Funeral)
The hadith I mean is as follows;
From Abu Sa’id radliyallahu ‘anhu, that the Messenger of Allah (Prophet Muhammad) sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said, “If you see Janazah (funeral), then stand up! Whoever delivers the Janazah cannot sit until the janazah is placed (on the ground).” The hadith is narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim.
There are some important things about the above hadith that we need to know;
One: The hadith explains, that if we see janazah (funeral) that passes in front of us and will be deteriorated, then if at that time we are sitting, then we must stand up. The purpose of standing is to pay tribute to Allah Ta’ala, not to honor the janazah (funeral) because that is the command of Allah Ta’ala to all of us.
Two: The hadith also explains, that people who deliver janazah (funeral) should not sit until the janazah is lowered from the back of the people carrying her/him.
All Readers! That is a brief explanation of obligation for people who see janazah (funeral). Do you understand? If you want to ask, please ask!
I think that’s enough for this article. May be useful! Amen!
See you in the next article!
