Hadith About the Best Prayer for People Who Pay Zakat

The hadith about the best prayer for people who pay zakat that I mean is as follows;

From Abdullah bin Abi Aufa, he said, “If there is a group of people coming to Allah’s Messenger (Prophet Muhammad) sallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam to pay zakat, then he prayed, “O my Lord, give mercy to them.” The hadith is narrated by al -Bukhari and Muslim.

There are some important things about the above hadith that we must know;

First; The hadith explains that people who take care of zakat are encouraged to pray for people who have paid zakat.

Second; The hadith explains that we may pray for people who have paid zakat as prayers for the Prophets.

Third; Islamic law experts differ on the legality of praying for others with prayers for the Prophets. Ahmad said, that was allowed based on the above hadith and the word of Allah Taala;

Take alms (zakat) out of their property, you would cleanse them and purify them thereby, and pray for them; surely your prayer is a relief to them; and Allah is Hearing, Knowing. (At-Taubah [9]; 103).

But the majority of Islamic legal experts say that is not allowed. There is also the meaning of prayer in the above hadith is prayer in general.
