Are Non-Muslims Allowed to Come to Mosque? Read This!

Islamic Rule: Are Non-Muslims Allowed to Enter Mosque? ~ Hi all readers! In this article I will explain the law of a problem related to two beliefs; Islam and non-Islam. More precisely, can non-Muslims enter the mosque? I used to see that incident a long time ago. When I was in college at al-Azhar, Cairo, Egypt, I often saw many non-Muslims entering the mosque. I saw them entering the mosque not for the purpose of looking at Islam, but for the purposes of traveling. I say that because some of the mosques they entered were historical places.

As always, before I answer the question above, I will quote one hadith that is specifically related to our discussion. Pay attention!

From Abu Hurairah radliyallaahu anhu, he said, “Allah’s Messenger sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam has sent cavalry. They then come with someone. They then tied him to one of the pillars of the mosque – al-Hadith.” The hadith was narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim.

The Law of Spitting in Mosque

There are some important things related to the hadith above that we need to know;

One; The hadith explains, that we may tie prisoner in the mosque.

Two; The hadith explains, that non-Muslims may enter the mosque (except al-Haram mosque). But there are differences of opinion about that. Malik said, “That non-Muslims should not enter the mosque except because of necessity.” Shafi’i said, “Non-Muslims (Jews, Christians, etc.) may enter the mosque with the permission of Muslims except the mosque in Mecca and the al-Haram mosque. “Abu Hanifah said,” Only non-Muslims who are (Jews and Christians) may enter the mosque.

All readers! If we understand the brief information above, of course we already know, that the answer to the question above is, “non-Muslims may enter the mosque”. The hadith above does not specifically explain especially about non-Muslims who enter mosques for tourism purposes. But the hadith explains, that there were people who were tied to one of the pillars of the mosque. That person is a non-Muslim who becomes a prisoner.

Besides that, we also understand, that we may also tie criminals in the mosque to get first security, before we hand it over to the police.

That is a brief explanation of are non-Muslims allowed to enter Mosque?. Do you understand? The problem is simple and the explanation is very clear. But, if you have questions, please ask!

I think that is enough for this article. May be useful! Amen!

See you again in the next article!
