Hadith About How to Clean Menstrual Blood

The hadith about how to clean menstrual blood that I mean is as follows:

From Asma bint Abu Bakr ash-Shiddiq radliyallahu ahum, that the Prophet (Muhammad) sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said about menstrual blood concerning clothes, "Women must scrape it, then massage it with water, then wash it, then use prayer." The hadith is narrated by al-Bukkhari and Muslim.

From Abu Hurairah radliyallahu anhu, he said, "Khaulah said, "O Messenger of Allah, "If the blood is not lost?" He said, "You simply use water and it doesn't harm you." The hadith is narrated by at-Tirmidhi.

If we pay attention to the two hadiths above, at least we already understand a number of things as follows;

  • Menstrual blood is unclean.
  • The place where the blood is attached must be washed with water. A woman must strive to remove the blood by scraping, massaging, and washing. The liquid which must be used for washing is water, other than water it is not permissible.
  • It should not be excessive in using water.
  • If a woman has tried hard to get rid of the blood of hadith, but the mark is still there, maybe smell or color, then it doesn't matter; forgiven.
  • No need to use sharp objects to remove menstrual blood or marks.
  • If the color of the blood is still left, then the person concerned is recommended to change the color to another color, assuming the material used is sacred.

As for those who narrated the first hadith is Asma binti Abu Bakr ash-Siddiq. He was a noble friend of the Prophet Muhammad. He has narrated 56 hadith. He converted to Islam after seventeen people entered Islam first. He died in Mecca in the year 73 of Hijria. At the end of his life, none of his teeth were dislodged. She is also not senile. But he is blind. He is the last female friend of the Prophet Muhammad who died.

The discussion that I delivered this time is very simple. So, I hope you, especially Muslim women, have understood it.

The person who narrated the second hadith is Khaulah. She is Khaulah bint Yasar radliyallahu anha. I did not find much information about her.

I think that is enough for this article about menstrual blood according to Islam. May be useful! Amen!

See you again in the next article!
