Doing Janazah Prayer after Burial ~Hi all readers! Janazah prayer is a type of prayer in Islam. The status of the prayer is Fardhu Kifayah. What is meant by “Fardhu Kifayah” is an obligation that must be carried out by some Muslims in an area. If there are some Muslims in an area that have done that, then some other Muslims are not obliged to do that. But if no one does that, then all the Muslims in the area will sin.

In general, Janazah prayer is performed before the funeral. But in some cases, and this often happens, a person cannot do that for several reasons, such as because of work, because of the distance between a person’s place and a funeral home away, and so on. The consequence is that the person can only pray Janazah after the funeral. Janazah prayer as it is called the “Gahib prayer”.

Maybe there are some of you who are wondering, “Are we allowed to do the Janazah prayer after the funeral? Did Prophet Muhammad ever do that? ” To be honest, I haven’t found a hadith that specifically explains it. But I found one hadith which means we can use it to analogize Janazah prayer after the funeral.
