Now you are reading the right article. Why? Because that is what I will explain in this article. As Muslims, we must understand that. That’s why I wrote this article. So, you have to read it to the end.

Specifically, there are three important things about “is it sunnah to sleep after Zuhr?” which I will explain now. The three important things I mean are as follows:

  1. Meaning of Sunnah to Sleep After Zuhr.
  2. Hadith About Sleeping After Zuhr.
  3. Is it Sunnah to Sleep After Zuhr?

Meaning of Sunnah to Sleep After Zuhr

The first important thing about “is it sunnah to sleep after Zuhr?” what I will explain now is the meaning of the sentence “sunnah to sleep after Zuhr”. I want you to understand that so that you have a complete understanding of the focus of our discussion.

If we look at the sentence “sunnah to sleep after Zuhr”, then we will understand that there are two points that we must understand. The two points I mean are as follows:

One: Sunnah.

By the way, do you know what sunnah is? If you don’t know about it, then you should remember that sunnah is everything that is attributed to Prophet Muhammad. That is an explanation of what the sunnah is in general.

The specific meaning of the sunnah is as follows:

Everything that is narrated from the Messenger of Allah (Prophet Muhammad) sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, such as sayings, deeds, decisions, attributes of creation and ethics, either before he was sent as a Prophet and Messenger or after that.

That is one of the definitions of sunnah according to hadith experts.

You can find an explanation of the sunnah in the hadith below:

Whoever sets an example of good habits in Islam, then he will get his reward and the reward of those who imitate it, without reducing their reward in the slightest. And whoever sets an example of a bad habit, then he will get his sin, and the sin of those who follow him without reducing their sin in the slightest.

Two: sleep after Zuhr.

As for what is meant by “sleep after Zuhr” is very simple, that someone sleeps after Zuhr.

One important thing I want to make clear before I explain a lot about it, is that Zuhr is one of the times to pray in Islam. Precisely is when our shadow is directly below us until it leans towards the west before the time to perform the Asr prayer. So, sleeping after Zuhr is sleeping around 12-14 noon. That is the approximate time.

So, we can understand “sleep after Zuhr” in several ways as follows:

One: that the Prophet Muhammad used to sleep after Zuhr.

Two: that sleeping after Zuhr is one of the good things in Islam.

But, in general, if we find someone explaining the sunnah to sleep after Zuhr, then it means that the Prophet Muhammad used to do that and that is a good thing in Islam. But if we find someone asking about the sunnah of sleeping after Zuhr, it means that that person is asking if it is permissible in Islam.

That is a brief explanation of the meaning of “sunnah to sleep after Zuhr” that we must understand.

Hadith About Sleeping After Zuhr

The second important thing about “sunnah to sleep after Zuhr?” what I will explain now is the hadith about sleeping after Zuhr. I want you to understand that so that you understand the basic arguments to answer the question.

The hadith about the sunnah to sleep after Zuhr is as follows:

قِيْلُوْا فَإِنَّ الشَّيَاطِيْنَ لاَ تَقِيْلُ

Sleep qailulah (sleep after Zuhr) because the devil does not take sleep qailulah (sleep after Zuhr).

That’s a hadith about sleeping after Zuhr that we must understand.

Hi Abdul Malik! Thank you for reading this article and happy Ramadan!

The conclusion of this discussion is that sleeping after Zuhr is sunnah. Specifically, Prophet Muhammad has advised us to take a nap or sleep after Zuhr. He said (I have quoted it in the paragraphs above):

      قِيْلُوْا فَإِنَّ الشَّيَاطِيْنَ لاَ تَقِيْلُ

Sleep qailulah (sleep after Zuhr) because the devil does not take sleep qailulah (sleep after Zuhr).

As for why there are three discussions in this article, it is because those three things we must understand so that we understand well whether sleeping after Zuhr is sunnah or not.

If you have any other questions or opinions, please let me know. I am very happy to have a dialogue with you.
