Importance of Salat Al-Jama’ah ~ Hi readers! I think the majority of Muslims have heard what Salat al-Jam’ah is. As we already know the prayer al-Jama’ah is a prayer performed with other Muslims. Salat al-Jama’ah is one way of praying in Islam. Salat al-Jama’ah can be performed for obligatory prayers (Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha) and sunah prayers (Dhuha, Taraweeh, Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adhah, etc.).

Literal Meaning of Salat Al-Jama’ah

The term of “Salat al-Jama’ah” is an Arabic-Islamic term. The writing is: صَلَاةُ الْجَمَاعَةِ. The term consists of two words: Salat (صَلَاةُ) and al-Jama’ah (الْجَمَاعَةِ). The meaning of Salat (صَلَاةُ) is prayer, while the meaning of al-Jama’ah (الْجَمَاعَةِ) is a group of people. So, the literal meaning of Salat al-Jama’ah is a prayer that is performed together.

There are two important components in prayer al-Jama’ah (صَلَاةُ الْجَمَاعَةِ). The first is the Imam. The second is Makmum. The Imam is the person who leads the prayers. While Makmum is the person being led. There is only one Imam in prayer al-Jama’ah. Meanwhile, the number of Makmum can be one person, two people, three people, and so on (more is better).

Hadith About Salat Al-Jama’ah

In fact, there are many hadiths about prayer al-Jama’ah. But the popular hadiths are as follows:

عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا أَنَّ رَسُوْلَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ ؛ صَلَاةُ الْجَمَاعَةِ أَفْضَلُ مِنْ صَلَاةِ الْفَذِّ بِسَبْعٍ وَعِشْرِيْنَ دَرَجَةً . مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ . وَلَهُمَا عَنْ أَبِيْ هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ؛ بِخَمْسٍ وَعِشْرِيْنَ جُزْءًا

From Abdullah bin Umar radliyallaahu anhumaa, that the Messenger of Allah sallaallaahu alaihi wa sallam said, “Salat al-Jama’ah (Congregational prayer) is more important than the prayer alone is approximately twenty-seven degrees.” The hadith is narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim. They both also have another narration from Abu Hurairah, “Approximately twenty-five degrees.”

Importantce of Salat Al-Jama’ah

Actually, there are much importance of Salat al-Jama’ah. In this article, I will only explain 8. The 8 important values of the al-Jama’ah prayer are as follows:

One: the virtue of Salat al-Jama’ah is more than praying alone. The difference is 27: 1 or 25: 1.

Two: every step of the way to pray al-Jama’ah is mercy for Muslims who do it.

Three: Muslims who pray al-Jama’ah are rewarded very much.

Four: the angels pray for the Muslim who prays al-Jama’ah so that he gets good.

Five: the sins of a Muslim who prays al-Jama’ah are forgiven.

Six: Muslims who pray al-Jama’ah will receive the auspices of Allah on the Day of Resurrection because their hearts always miss the mosque.
