Importance of Salat Al-Jama’ah ~ Hi readers! I think the majority of Muslims have heard what Salat al-Jam’ah is. As we already know the prayer al-Jama’ah is a prayer performed with other Muslims. Salat al-Jama’ah is one way of praying in Islam. Salat al-Jama’ah can be performed for obligatory prayers (Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha) and sunah prayers (Dhuha, Taraweeh, Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adhah, etc.).
But unfortunately, not all Muslims know the importance of Salat al-Jama’ah. We may also mention the importance of Salat al-Jama’ah as the virtue of Salat al-Jama’ah. That’s why I wrote this article. So, if you are curious about that, then you should read this article to the end!
There are three important things about Salat al-Jamaah and its importance which I will explain in this article. The three important things I mean are as follows:
Literal Meaning of Salat Al-Jama’ah
The term of “Salat al-Jama’ah” is an Arabic-Islamic term. The writing is: صَلَاةُ الْجَمَاعَةِ. The term consists of two words: Salat (صَلَاةُ) and al-Jama’ah (الْجَمَاعَةِ). The meaning of Salat (صَلَاةُ) is prayer, while the meaning of al-Jama’ah (الْجَمَاعَةِ) is a group of people. So, the literal meaning of Salat al-Jama’ah is a prayer that is performed together.
There are two important components in prayer al-Jama’ah (صَلَاةُ الْجَمَاعَةِ). The first is the Imam. The second is Makmum. The Imam is the person who leads the prayers. While Makmum is the person being led. There is only one Imam in prayer al-Jama’ah. Meanwhile, the number of Makmum can be one person, two people, three people, and so on (more is better).
Hadith About Salat Al-Jama’ah
In fact, there are many hadiths about prayer al-Jama’ah. But the popular hadiths are as follows:
From Abdullah bin Umar radliyallaahu anhumaa, that the Messenger of Allah sallaallaahu alaihi wa sallam said, “Salat al-Jama’ah (Congregational prayer) is more important than the prayer alone is approximately twenty-seven degrees.” The hadith is narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim. They both also have another narration from Abu Hurairah, “Approximately twenty-five degrees.”
