Mature Muslims (Baligh) are obliged to perform all obligations in Islam, such as performing the obligatory prayers five times a day, paying Zakat, fasting during Ramadan, and performing Hajj if he is able to do so. Moreover, in one case, if Muslims had wet dreams, then they were not allowed to perform some of the obligatory prayers and the recommended worship before they took a bath.

Wet Dreams in Islam
A wet dream is a dream of having sex until someone sheds sperm. Men and women experience it. In general, wet dreams in Islam are a condition that explains that a person is an 4dult (Baligh). Besides, a Muslim who has a wet dream until he releases sperm, then he has a big hadas. Thus, he must take a bath.
There are two general things about wet dreams in Islam that I would like to explain here:
a. Muslims who have wet dreams are innocent.
Wet dreams are dreams of having sex with other people. Maybe the other person is your husband, wife, brother, sister, male friend, female friend, and so on. In general, if under normal conditions, not in a dream, having sex with someone other than a husband or wife, can make a person sin. It is categorized as adultery. But if it is done in a dream (wet dream), then it will not make a person a sinner.

We can find an explanation that wet dreams carried out with other people, not with husband or wife, do not cause a person sin in the following hadith:
From Ali: that the Messenger of Allah (Prophet Muhammad) sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said, “Pen (recorders of deeds) are raised from three types of people: from sleeping to waking up, from small children to adults (baligh), and from crazy people. until he realized. “
b. Wet dreams are a sign that someone has reached maturity (baligh).
The second thing I want to explain about wet dreams in Islam, if a Muslim has wet dreams, then that is a sign that he is an adult (baligh). In other words, since then he has the obligation to carry out all obligations in Islam.
We can find an explanation that a wet dream is a sign that someone has reached puberty in the Quranic verse as follows:
And if the little ones have grown up (puberty), then let them ask permission, like the people before them. This is how Allah explains His signs to them. And Allah is the all-knowing God as well as the wisest. (An-Nur 24:59).
c. In one case, a wet dream was a sign that a Muslim had big hadas or had to take a bath.
According to Islamic legal literacy, if a Muslim has a wet dream until he releases sperm, then he has a big hadas. Thus, he has to take a shower to get rid of it so that he can perform some worship that requires him to be in a holy state, such as praying and holding the Quran. Bathing that is done because of a wet dream is called “Janabah Bath”.
What Is Ghusl After Wet Dreams in Islam?
Maybe now you are still wondering, “What is a bath (ghusl) after a wet dream in Islam?” You must know that it is a ritual that must be carried out by Muslims who have big hadas. Big hadas is an impure condition that is experienced by Muslims. Big hadas can only be removed by bathing Janabah. So, taking a bath (ghusl) after a wet dream is a Janabah bath.
If we understand this explanation, of course, we also understand that the law of doing Janabah bath is obligatory. In other words, if Muslims don’t do that after a wet dream, then he still has a big hadas.
The Types of Wet Dreams in Islam
Do you know how many types of wet dreams are in Islam? If you don’t know that yet, then keep reading this article!
According to Islamic legal literacy, there are two types of wet dreams in Islam:
a. The Wet Dreams That Are Require Muslim to Bath.
What is meant by a wet dream which requires a Muslim to bathe is a wet dream that causes him to emit sperm. I think we all understand that. So, I’m not going to write much about it.
We can find an explanation of the types of wet dreams that require a Muslim to bathe in the following hadith:
From Anas radliyalaahu anhu, he said, “Allah’s Messenger sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam has said (about women who dream of seeing something seen by men in his dream him),” She must take a bath. “The hadith is narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim. Muslim added the editor of the hadith, “Um Salamah then asked, “And is this there?” He (Prophet Muhammad) replied, “Yes. Then where is that similarity?”
b. The Wet Dreams That Aren’t Require Muslim to Bath.
What is meant by wet dreams that aren’t require Muslim to bath is a wet dream that does not cause him to emit sperm. I think we all understand that. So, I’m not going to write much about it.
We can find an explanation of the types of wet dreams that aren’t require Muslim to bath in the following hadith:
From Umm Salamah, Ummul Mukminin, radliyallahu anha, that she said, “Umm Sulaym, the wife of Abu Talha, has come to the Messenger of Allah (Prophet Muhammad) sallallahu alaihi wa sallam. She then said, “O Messenger of Allah, verily Allah is not ashamed of the truth: should a woman take a bath if she has had wet dreams?” The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said, “Yes if he has seen the water (her sperm comes out).
Can We Pray After Wet Dreams?
Now, you may be wondering, “Can we pray after wet dreams?”
If we understand the previous explanations, of course, we understand that we can pray if the wet dreams we experience do not cause us to secrete sperm. But if it makes us secrete sperm, then we can’t pray before we take a bath (take a Janabah bath). That’s the answer to that question. As Muslims, we must understand that.

Is the bed considered unclean wet someone wet dreams but sperms or semen does reach the bed sheets
Hi Mukaya Franco!
Thank you for reading this article and happy Ramadan!
One thing we must always remember is that sperm is clean. Sperm is something clean in Islamic law.
So, we our clothes are exposed to sperm, our clothes are clean, not unclean.
We can find this explanation in the hadith below:
From Aisha radiiyallahu anha, she said, “The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam once washed the seperma which was attached to his clothes. Then he went out to do the prayer using his clothes and I saw the former laundry.” The hadith was narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim. Muslims have another hadith editorial, “Indeed I have scraped the sperm from the clothes of the Prophet sallallaâhu ‘alaihi wa sallam until it fell out. He then prayed using the clothes.” In another editor, “Really I have scraped the dried sperm from his clothes with my nails.”
You can find more explanations about the hadith in the article “Is Sperm Unclean According to Islam? Read This!“. Please type these keywords in the search button on this website. I can’t include the URL of the article because the article is in a different category from this article. I don’t want any cross posts on this website that could break the SILO (System Internal Link Optimization).
So, in the context of your question, your bed is clean.

What if was in a lucid dream (where i control the dream) and chose to do this act (sex). Is it halal or not???
Hi Ahmad!
Thank you for reading this article and happy Eid al-Fitr!
Dreams are part of sleep. In Islam, whatever sin a person commits while he is sleeping, it is not a sin.
For example, if you curse someone while you are sleeping, you are not guilty of that. Likewise, having sex in a dream even though you choose to do it (in a dream).
We can find this explanation in the hadith below:
From Ali radiyallahu anhu, from the Prophet (Muhammad) sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, he said, “The pen (recorder of deeds) will be lifted from three people: from the one who sleeps until he wakes up, from the child until he grows up (Balig), from the crazy person until he wakes up.”
If you have any other questions or opinions, please let me know. I am very happy to have a dialogue with you.

I dreamt I was masturbating but I wasn’t wet when I woke up does that means I had a wet dream? Jaxakallahu
Hi Zainab,
Thank you for reading this article.
I have read your question. The answer is “No. You’re not having a wet dream because you’re not wet.”
You can find this explanation in the hadith below:
From Umm Salamah, Ummul Mukminin, radliyallahu anha, that she said, “Umm Sulaym, the wife of Abu Talha, has come to the Messenger of Allah (Prophet Muhammad) sallallahu alaihi wa sallam. She then said, “O Messenger of Allah, verily Allah is not ashamed of the truth: should a woman take a bath if she has had wet dreams?” The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said, “Yes if he has seen the water (her sperm comes out).
