Hajj for Children; A Best Explanation

Sharia: Hajj for Children ~ Hi all readers! In general, people who perform Hajj are adults, both men and women. But for some Muslims who have a lot of money, they will finance their children to perform the Hajj. The question is, what about the legality of Hajj for children? If you want to know the answer, then you must read this article to the end!

As usual, before I explain the legality of Hajj for children further, I will quote one hadith that is specifically related to our discussion. The hadith I mean is as follows;

From Ibn Abbas radliyallahu anhuma, that the Prophet (Muhammad) sallallahu alayhi wa sallam had met a group of people who were riding in vehicles in ar-Rauha ‘. He then asked, “Who are these people?” They answered, “The Muslims.” They then asked, “Who are you?” He replied, “Allah’s Messenger sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.” Then there was a woman who raised a child and asked, “Can this child do Hajj?” He replied, “Yes and you get the reward.” The hadith is narrated by Muslim.

Obligations in Hajj; A Best Explanation

All Readers! There are some important things about the above hadith that we must know;

First; the hadith explains about the legality of Hajj for children. The point is that young children may make the pilgrimage.

Second; the majority of Islamic law experts are of the opinion, that a child who has made the Hajj, if he is an adult, then he must do the Hajj again, because the Hajj that was done when he was a child (not yet an adult) cannot abort the obligation to perform the Hajj. This opinion is based on the hadith below;

From Ibn Abbas radliyallahu anhu, he said, “Allah’s Messenger sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said,” If there is a small child who has performed the Hajj, then he is an adult, then he must do the Hajj again. If there is a slave who has made the pilgrimage, then he is freed, then he must do the pilgrimage again. “The hadith is narrated by Ibn Abu Syaibah and al-Baihaqi.

All Readers! That is a brief explanation of hajj for children. Do you understand? If you want to ask, please ask!

I think that’s enough for this article. May be useful! Amen!
