Hi all readers! Are you looking for an explanation of the hadith on sleeping? If your answer is “Yes”, congratulations! Now you are reading the right article. Why? Because that is what I will explain in this article. As Muslims, we must understand that. That’s why I wrote this article. So, you should read it to the end!
Specifically, there are two important things about the hadith on sleeping which I will explain in this article. Two important things I mean are as follows:
The Literal Meaning of Hadith and Hadith in Islam
The first important thing about the hadith on sleeping that I will explain now is the literal meaning of hadith and hadith in Islam. I want you to understand all that first before you read more explanations in this article because there are some Muslims who do not understand it all well.
As for the literal meaning of hadith and the meaning of hadith in Islam, what I mean is as follows:
The Literal Meaning of Hadith
The literal meaning of the hadith is as follows:
Hadith in Arabic is a utterance that is said by someone.
That is a brief explanation of the literal meaning of hadith. As Muslims, we must understand that.
Meaning of Hadith in Islam
The meaning of the hadith in Islam is as follows:
Hadith in shariah terms is everything that comes from the Messenger of Allah (Prophet Muhammad) sallallahu alaihi wa sallam and is attributed to him, such as words, deeds, decrees, which can be used as sources of law.
In Islam, hadith has another term. The term hadith I mean is sunnah.
In Islam, hadith or sunnah is one of the primary references for Muslims. We can find this explanation in the hadith below:
I have left two matters with you. As long as you hold to them, you will not go the wrong way. They are the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam.
That is a brief explanation of the meaning of hadith in Islam and the literal meaning of hadith. As Muslims, we must understand that.
Four Hadiths on Sleeping
The second important point about the hadith on sleeping that I will explain is the four hadiths on sleeping. I want you to understand all of that because these are some important things that some Muslims don’t understand well.
As for the four hadiths on sleeping what I mean is as follows:
Hadith on Napping or Hadith on Sleeping After Zuhr
As for the hadith on napping or the hadith on sleeping after Zuhr what I mean is as follows:
Sleep qailulah (sleep after Zuhr) because the devil does not take sleep qailulah (sleep after Zuhr).
In the hadith it is explained that the Prophet Muhammad advised Muslims to take a nap or sleep after Zuhr. So, the status is a recommendation, not an obligation.
Hadith on Islamic Sleeping Position
As for the hadith on Islamic sleeping position that I mean as follows:
The Prophet (Muhammad) sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said to Barra’ bin ‘Azib radliyallahu anhu, “If you are going to sleep, then do your wudu like your wudu for prayer, then lie down on your right side… (al-Hadith).” This hadith was narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim.
In the hadith it is explained that the best sleeping position in Islam is lying on the right side. The status is a recommendation, not an obligation.
