Do We Have to Do Wudu If We Have Eaten Goat Meat or Camel Meat?
Do We Have to Do Wudu If We Have Eaten Goat Meat or Camel Meat? ~ Hi all readers! In this article, I will explain the problem that might seem very strange. I say so because this discussion is related to animals that we may eat after being slaughtered according to Islamic teachings. The animals I mean here are goats and camels. In Islamic teachings, is there a discussion about whether we should ablaze if we have eaten goat meat and camel meat? This is certainly very different from the law of eating animal meat which is clearly prohibited in Islam, such as dogs, pigs, and so on.
As always, before I speak more about "do we have to do wudu if we have eaten goat meat or camel meat?", I will present one of the hadiths of Prophet Muhammad which specifically relates to this discussion.
Hadith About Goat Meat and Camel Meat
The hadith about goat meat and camel meat that I mean is as follows;
From Jabir bin Samurah radliyallahu anu, that someone once asked the Prophet (Muhammad) sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, “Do I have to do wudu after eating mutton meat?” He said, “If you want.” He (someone) said, “Do I have to do wudu after eating mutton camel meat?” He (Prophet Muhammad) said, “Yes.” The hadith was narrated by Muslim.
All readers! If we observe the hadith above, then we will know that we are not obliged to ablaze after we eat goat meat, but we are required to have an ablution if we have eaten camel meat. This difference arises because camel meat has a very strong odor that can disturb a person's concentration when he is praying. Because of that, Islam told someone that he should ablaze if he had eaten camel meat.
But there are differences of opinion among Islamic law experts on this issue. The difference of opinion I mean is as follows;
- Eating goat meat does not break wudu.
- Ahmad argues, that eating camel meat can break wudu.
- The majority of Islamic law experts argue that eating camel meat cannot break wudu. They interpret the word "ablution or wudu" into the meaning of the language; gargle. That is, what must be done is to remove meat fat in the mouth.
The person who has narrated the hadith above is Jabir bin Samurah bin Janadah. He arrived at Kuffah. He is one of the best friends of the famous Prophet Muhammad. He has narrated 146 hadith. He died in 73 hijria.
Thus, we can also conclude, that we are also encouraged to clean our mouth, if in this day and age we can do it by brushing our teeth so that the results are more perfect, after we eat food or after we drink drinks that give a very bad breath. I say "recommended" because I prefer to be careful to give legal status decisions.
That is a brief explanation of do we have to do wudu if we have eaten goat meat or camel meat? Do you understand? The problem is simple and the explanation that I have explained is clear. So, I hope you understand.
I think that is enough for this article. May be useful! Amen!
See you again in the next article!
