Specifically, there are two important things about forgiveness for Zina in Islam which I will explain in this article. Two important things I mean are as follows:

Is There Forgiveness for Zina in Islam?

The first important thing about forgiveness for Zina in Islam which I will explain now is "is there forgiveness for Zina in Islam?". I want you to understand that first before you read any further explanation in this article. Why? Because that is the main focus of this discussion.

Specifically, if we read some verses of the Quran and some hadiths, we will find an explanation that Zina is a type of sin that will be forgiven if the person who has committed it repents. So, in Islam, there is forgiveness for Zina.

The explanation that there is forgiveness for Zina in Islam is as follows:

Forgiveness for Zina in Quran

Quran is the primary reference for Muslims. What it means is that they should make the Quran their standard of living. In the Quran, there are many explanations about sin and how to repent. One of them is about Zina.

We can find an explanation that Zina is one of the types of sins that will be forgiven if the person who has committed it repents in the Quran below:

Do they not know that Allah accepts repentance from His servants and takes the alms, and that Allah is the Oft-returning (to mercy), the Merciful? (At-Taubah [9]; 104).

The Quranic verse above is one of the Quranic verses that explain repentance. There are many other Quranic verses that explain this. I'm not going to explain it all now.

Forgiveness for Zina in Hadith

Hadith is one of the primary references after the Quran for Muslims. In the hadith, there are many explanations about Zina and how to repent.

We can find an explanation that Zina is one type of sin that will be forgiven if the person who has done it repents in the following hadiths:

From Anas, that the Prophet (Muhammad) sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, "All the descendants of Adam are guilty and the best of the guilty are those who repent." The hadith was narrated by at-Tirmidhi.

From Abdullah bin Umar, from the Prophet (Muhammad) sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, "Verily Allah accepts the repentance of a servant as long as he has not experienced naza' (arriving of the soul in the throat when a person is about to die)." The hadith was narrated by at-Tirmidhi.

From Abdullah bin Umar, he said, "The Messenger of Allah (Prophet Muhammad) sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, "O people, repent to Allah! Verily I repent to Him in one day up to a hundred times." This hadith was narrated by Muslim.

From Abu Hurairah, he said, "The Messenger of Allah (Prophet Muhammad) sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, "Whoever repents before the sun rises until the sun sets, Allah will accept his repentance." This hadith was narrated by Muslim.

That is a brief explanation of "is there forgiveness for Zina in Islam?". As Muslims, we must understand that.

Interesting Story About Forgiveness for Zina in Islam

The second important point about forgiveness for Zina in Islam that I will explain now is an interesting story about forgiveness for Zina in Islam. I want you to know that so that you are more confident that Allah will forgive the person who has committed Zina if he repents.

We can find the story of forgiveness for Zina in Islam in the hadith below:

That Ma'iz bin Malik al-Aslami came to the Messenger of Allah (Prophet Muhammad) sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. He then said, "O Messenger of Allah, indeed I have wronged myself. I have committed Zina. Really, I want you to purify me." Prophet Muhammad then rejected his confession.

The next day he (Ma'iz) came again to the Prophet Muhammad. He then said, "O Messenger of Allah, indeed I have committed Zina." Prophet Muhammad then rejected his confession a second time.

Allah's Messenger (Prophet Muhammad) sallallahu alayhi wa sallam then went to his people (the Ma'iz people). He then asked, "Do you know that there is something bad in his mind (ma'iz mind), which you deny?"

They replied, “We don't know that except that he has a good mind. To our knowledge, he is a good person.”

He (Ma'iz) then came again to the Prophet Muhammad for the third time. Prophet Muhammad then went to his people (the Ma'iz people) and asked them about him again. They then told him that there was no disturbance to him and his mind.

When he (Ma'iz) came to him for the fourth time, he ordered (the Muslims) to make a hole. Then he ordered to punish him (Ma'iz), He (Ma'iz) was then given the Rajam.

Then a woman from Ghamidiyah came. She then said, "O Messenger of Allah, indeed I have committed Zina." He (Prophet Muhammad) then rejected her confession.

On the next day, the woman came again and said, “O Messenger of Allah, why do you reject my confession? Can you reject me like you have rejected Ma'iz? By Allah, I am pregnant.

He (Prophet Muhammad) then said, "No. Go until you give birth."

When the woman had given birth, she then came to meet him (Prophet Muhammad) with a baby wearing a cloth. She then said, “This. I have given birth to him.”

He (the Prophet Muhammad) then said, "Go, breastfeed him until you finish nursing him (until your child does not need your milk)."

When the woman had finished breastfeeding her child (her child did not need her milk), she came to see him (Prophet Muhammad) with her child holding a piece of bread. She then said, “This is my son, O Prophet of Allah! I have finished feeding him. Really, he has eaten food."

He then gave the little boy to a Muslim. Then he ordered that she be punished. He then ordered that she be buried up to her chest. Then he ordered the Muslims to give her rajam.

Khalid bin Walid then threw stones at the woman. He threw the woman's head. He was then splashed with blood. He then insulted her.

The Prophet of Allah (Prophet Muhammad) sallallahu alayhi wa sallam then heard his insults (insulting Khalid bin Walid) to the woman. He then said, "Do not insult her, O Khalid! By Allah, in whose power my soul is, indeed she has repented. If such repentance is carried out by a person who does Maks (a person who trades in a fraudulent way to get a lot of profit), then he will definitely be forgiven.

Then he (Prophet Muhammad) ordered the Muslims to take care of the woman's body. He then performed the Janazah prayer for her. She was then buried.

In the above hadith it is explained that there are two people who have committed Zina. The first person was Ma'iz bin Malik al-Aslami and a woman from Ghamidiyah. Then they repented. Allah then forgave them both.

All readers! That is a brief explanation of forgiveness for Zina in Islam. Do you understand? If you want to ask, please ask!

I think that's enough for this article. May be useful. Amen.

See you again in the next article.
