Before I explain lunar eclipse in Islam, firstly, I will quote the Quran and hadith related to this discussion. The Quran and hadith regarding lunar eclipses I mean are as follows:
Quran About Lunar Eclipse
As for some of the verses of the Quran about lunar eclipses that I mean are as follows:
So, when vision is dazzled [7] And the moon darkens [8] And the sun and the moon are joined [9] Man will say on that Day, “Where is the [place of] escape?” [10]. (Al-Qiyamah [75]: 7-10).
Hadith About Lunar Eclipse
As for the hadith about lunar eclipse that I mean is as follows:
From al-Mughirah bin Syu’bah radliyallahu anhu, he said, “There was a solar eclipse during the time of the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam on the day of Ibrahim’s death. People then said, “There has been a solar eclipse because of the death of Ibrahim.” The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said, “Verily the sun and moon are two signs of the signs of Allah’s greatness. Both of them did not experience an eclipse because of someone’s death and not because of one’s life. If you see both, then pray to Allah and pray until they become clear. “The hadith is narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim.
All readers! If we understand some of the verses of the Quran and hadith regarding lunar eclipses as I have quoted above, we can conclude several things as follows:
One: lunar eclipse is one of the natural phenomena that Allah has ordained.
Two: lunar eclipse occurs not because of someone’s death or life.
Three: lunar eclipse is a sign of Allah’s greatness.
Four: in the event of a lunar eclipse, Muslims are encouraged to read dua and perform lunar eclipse prayer.
That’s a brief explanation of lunar eclipse in Islam. As Muslims, we must understand that.
