Hi all readers! Are you looking for an explanation of “does vaginal fart break wudu?”? If your answer is “Yes”, congratulations! Now you are reading the right article. Why? Because that is what I will explain in this article. As Muslims, we must understand that. That’s why I wrote this article. So, you should read it to the end!

Specifically, there are four important things about “does vaginal fart break wudu?” which I will explain in this article. The four important things I mean are as follows:

  1. Vaginal Fart in Islam: Why Muslims Should Understand It?
  2. Six Things That Can Break Your Wudu.
  3. Does Vaginal Fart Break Wudu?
  4. Not Sure There Was Movement from Private Parts: Does It Break Wudu?

Vaginal Fart in Islam: Why Muslims Should Understand It?

The first important thing about “does vaginal fart break wudu?” what I will explain now is “vaginal fart in Islam: why Muslims should understand it?”. I want you to understand that first because it is one of the important questions in this discussion that must be well understood.

In general, fart from the anus. But sometimes fart can also come out of the vagina (or called queef or vaginal fart). It occurs when air is trapped in the vaginal cavity. At certain times, this air can come out of the vagina and make a fart-like sound. The difference is queef or vaginal farts do not cause a bad smell.

One of the confessions of the woman and several of her friends was that vaginal queef or fart often occur after urinating and cannot be restrained like farts in general.

The question is: does queef or vaginal fart break wudu like regular fart?

For me, Muslims, especially Muslim women, must understand this question. The reason is that if vaginal queefs or farts can break wudu, then if they experience this condition, their wudu is broken and they are not allowed to perform acts of worship that require them to be in a holy condition or to have wudu.

What I wrote in the paragraph above is the answer to the question “why Muslims should understand vaginal fart in Islam”. That is one of the urgencies of this discussion.

We can find an explanation that if the wudu of Muslims is broken, they are not allowed to perform any rituals that require them to be in a holy condition or to have wudu in the hadith below:

From Abu Hurairah radiyallahu anhu, that the Messenger of Allah (Prophet Muhammad) sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, “Allah does not accept someone’s prayer from you if he has hadas (small hadas) until he performs wudu.” This hadith was narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim.

That is a brief explanation of “vaginal fart in Islam: why muslims should understand it?”. As Muslims, we must understand that.

The second important thing about “does vaginal fart break wudu?” what I will explain now is six things that can break your wudu. I want you to understand all of that first because they are some of the important things in this discussion that must be understood properly.

In simple terms, I want to say that there are six things that can break wudu:

One: if something comes out of two holes: the front hole (penis and vagina) and the back hole (anus).

We can find this explanation in the Quranic verse below:

O you who have believed, when you rise to [perform] prayer, wash your faces and your forearms to the elbows and wipe over your heads and wash your feet to the ankles. And if you are in a state of janabah, then purify yourselves. But if you are ill or on a journey or one of you comes from the place of relieving himself or you have contacted women and do not find water, then seek clean earth and wipe over your faces and hands with it. Allah does not intend to make difficulty for you, but He intends to purify you and complete His favor upon you that you may be grateful. (Al-Maidah: 6).

Two: loss of mind due to sleep, madness, and so on.

We can find this explanation in the hadith below:

From Mu’awiyah radiyallahu anhu, he said, “The Messenger of Allah sallallhu alaihi wa sallam said, “The eye is the anal cord. If two eyes have slept then the string will be untied.” The hadith was narrated by Ahmad and ath-Thabrani. He (ath-Thabrani) added (the hadith editor), “Whoever has been sleeping, let him perform wudu.”

Three: if the skin of a man and a woman who is not a mahram touch each other without a barrier.

We can find this explanation in the following Quranic verse:

Or you touch a girl. (Al-Maidah: 6).

Four: touching the human penis, vagina, or anus using the palms of the hands or the inside of the fingers.

We can find this explanation in the hadith below:

Whoever holds his penis, let him perform wudu.

Five: touching unclean objects, such as urine, feces, and so on.

Six: vomiting and nosebleeds.

We can find this explanation in the hadith below:

From Aisha radiyallahu anha, that the Messenger of Allah (Prophet Muhammad) sallallahu alaihi wa sallam has said, “Whoever is exposed to vomiting, nosebleeds (blood coming from the nose), qalas (fluid that comes from the throat that fills the mouth or other things but it is not vomit) or madhiy, then he should perform wudu and then continue his prayer as long as he does not speak.” This hadith was narrated by Ibn Majah.

That’s a brief explanation of six things that can break your wudu. As Muslims, we must understand that.

  1. Salaam alaikum warahmotullah wabarakatuh. I read your articles and I must confess, they are really helpful. Thank you very much.

In the articles, you said : ” if you are sure there is no sound or smell from the movement in the vagina, then your wudu is broken and you should do it again”.

And: “if you are not sure there is no sound or smell from the movement in the vagina, then your wudu is not broken and you don’t have to do it again”.

My question is: do you mean:

“If you are sure there is sound or smell from the movement in the vagina, your wudu is broken and you should do it again”.

And : “if you are not sure there is sound or smell from the movement in the vagina / if you are sure there is no sound or smell from the movement in the vagina, your wudu is not broken and you don’t have to do it again”.

Since there is no wudu unless there is a sound or smell. Please clarify!

    Jazakum lahu khayran.

    1. Wa Alaikum Salaam wa Rahamatullahi wa Barakatuhu,

      Hi Islamiyah,

Thank you for reading this article.

I am very happy that you have read this article very carefully. I can understand that from your comments.

Before I answer your question, I want to say one important thing that we must always remember, that the standard fart in Islam that can break wudu is the sound of farts and the smell of farts. It’s a common standard for farts to come out of the back and front holes.

The basis for this conclusion is the following hadiths:

It is not obligatory to perform wudu unless you hear a voice or smell an odor.

From Abu Hurairah radiyallahu anhu, he said, “The Messenger of Allah (Prophet Muhammad) sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, “If one of you finds something in his stomach, then he doubts whether something has come out of him or not? So, he is not allowed to leave the mosque until he hears a sound or smells an aroma.” This hadith was narrated by Muslim.

In addition to the two hadiths above, you can find other hadiths about farting in several articles that I have written before, especially the article below:

      https://guidelinesislamiclaw.com/what-kind-of-fart-breaks-wudu/

In this article, I have explained the differences of opinion among Islamic law experts on the topic of discussion in this article. I won’t explain that again in this comment. You may choose one opinion to serve as a legal basis.

RELATED TO YOUR QUESTION, I personally am a Muslim who follows the Shafiiyah School. I personally see that you are also a follower of the Shafiiyah School. So, in the context of this discussion, what you wrote is true, and that’s what I wrote.

SPECIFICALLY, I WANT TO CLARIFICATE that what you have written about my opinion in this article is TRUE.

So, as a Muslim who follows the Shafiiyah School, I would like to say again that:

“If you are sure there is sound or smell from the movement in the vagina, your wudu is broken and you should do it again.”

“if you are not sure there is sound or smell from the movement in the vagina / if you are sure there is no sound or smell from the movement in the vagina, your wudu is not broken and you don’t have to do it again .”

THAT’S MY CLARIFICATION. And I am very grateful to you because you have read this article carefully.

If you have any other questions or opinions, please let me know. I am very happy to have a dialogue with you.
