Is Singing Song Permissible in Islam?

The first important thing about “does singing song break wudu?” what I will explain now is “is singing song permissible in Islam?”. I want you to understand that first before you read any further explanations in this article because that is one of the important questions in this discussion that should be well understood.

In general, if we read some Islamic legal literature on singing song, we will find two differences of opinion:

One: some Islamic jurists say that singing song (music) is haram. In general, they use the following verses of the Quran and hadith as the basis for their opinion:

And of the people is he who buys the amusement of speech to mislead [others] from the way of Allah without knowledge and who takes it in ridicule. Those will have a humiliating punishment. (Luqman [31]: 6).

The hadith I mean is as follows:

Indeed, there will be some of my Ummah who will justify zina, silk, liquor (al-Khamr), and musical instruments.

Two: some Islamic jurists say that singing song (music) is halal. One of the bases of their opinion is the hadith below:

From Abu Hurairah radliyallaahu anhu, that Umar radliyallahu anhu met Hassan who was developing (poetry) in the mosque. He then looked at Hassan with a denying view. Hassan then said, “I have developed (poetry) in it (mosque). In it there is someone who is better than you. “The hadith is narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim.

Now, I would like to say that there is a difference of opinion about the legality of singing song in Islam. You can choose one of them as the basis for your opinion, but you can’t blame other people who have different opinions with you.

Personally, I prefer the opinion that singing song is permissible in Islam.

That’s a brief explanation of “is singing song permissible in Islam?”. As Muslims, we must understand that.
