Specifically, there are three important points about “does madhiy require ghusl?” which I will explain in this article. The three important things I mean are as follows:

What Is Madhiy?

First important thing about “does madhiy require ghusl?” what I will explain now is "what is madhiy?". I want you to understand that first before you read any more explanations in this article. In addition, I also want you to understand the meaning of madhiy which is the focus of our discussion now.

In Islamic legal literacy, madhiy is a white, clear, and sticky liquid that comes out of the vital organs of a person who is in lust and does not make the person weak. Sometimes, one does not know if madhiy has come out of his vital organs.

There are some important things about madhiy that we have to understand. If we understand a brief explanation of madhiy in Islamic legal literacy, then we can conclude several things as follows:

  • Madhiy is different from sperm and wadi. We can understand madhiy as I have explained before.

What is meant by sperm is a white, thick, smelly liquid that gives a person a sense of pleasure when expelling it, and spurts when it comes out of a person's vital organs.

While what is meant by wadi is a white, thick, cloudy, and odorless liquid. Usually, the wadi comes out when a person is urinating or after he or she lifts a heavy object.

  • Madhiy can come out of the male and female vital organs.
  • Madhiy can't make someone limp.

Those are some basic things about madhiy that we have to understand.

Ghusl and Things Requiring Ghusl

The second important point about “does madhiy require ghusl?” what I'm going to explain now is ghusl and the things that require ghusl. For me, we must understand that first so that we have a specific understanding of the focus of our discussion now.

In several previous articles I have explained some things about ghusl. I have already explained that there are two types of ghusl: obligatory ghusl and non-obligatory ghusl.

What is meant by obligatory ghusl is ghusl that must be done to eliminate major hadas and ghusl which is done to bathe Muslims who have died. While what is meant by ghusl which is not obligatory is ghusl to remove dirt from our bodies. Specifically, I would like to say that what is meant by ghusl in the topic of this article is obligatory ghusl.

Specifically, in several previous articles, I have explained six things that require ghusl. The six things I mean are as follows:

  • If sperm comes out.
  • After sex.
  • If a Muslim woman's menstruation has been completed.
  • If a Muslim woman's puerperium has been completed.
  • If a Muslim woman has given birth.
  • If a Muslim die.

That's a brief explanation of ghusl and some of the things that require ghusl. As Muslims, we must understand that.

Does Madhiy Require Ghusl?

The third important point about “does madhiy require ghusl?” what I'm going to explain here is a specific answer. If we understand some of the brief descriptions above, then we will understand that madhiy is not one of the things that requires ghusl.

Specifically, we can find an explanation that madhiy is not one of the things that requires ghusl in the hadith below:

From Ali bin Abi Talib radliyallahu anhu, he said, "I am a person who often goes out of his madhiy. I then ordered Miqdad to ask the Prophet (Muhammad) sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. Miqdad then asked him. He then said, "There is an obligation to perform wudu in it." This hadith was narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim.

The hadith above tells that Ali bin Abi Talib was a person who often went out of his madhiy. He didn't know about Islamic law about it. He was also very embarrassed to ask the Prophet Muhammad directly. That's why he asked Miqdad to ask the Prophet Muhammad about it.

Now we understand that madhiy is not one of the things that requires ghusl. Madhiy who requires ablution.

All readers! That is a brief explanation of "does madhiy require ghusl?". Do you understand? If you want to ask, please ask!

I think that's enough for this article. May be useful. Amen.

See you again in the next article!
