Dhuha Prayer and the Virtues

Islamic Law Today: Dhuha Prayer and the Virtues ~ Hi all readers! In this article, I will explain about the sunnah prayer that is carried out after the sun rises until before the time to perform the Dhuhr prayer. Here I will also explain about its benefits. The prayer that I mean is Dhuha prayer.

As always, before I explain this theme further, I will quote some of the hadith that are specifically related to our discussion. Pay attention!

From Aishah radliyallahu anha, she said, “Allah’s Messenger sallallahu alaihi wa sallam pray (Dhuha) with four rak’ahs or he adds them according to Allah’s will.” The hadith is narrated by Muslim.

From Anas bin Malik radliyallahu anhu, he said, “Allah’s Messenger sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said, “Whoever prays Dhuha in twelve rak’ahs, then Allah will make a palace for him in Heaven.” This hadith is narrated by at-Tirmidhi.

From Aisha radliyallahu anha, she said, “The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam entered my house. Then he prays Dhuha eight rak’ahs.” The hadith is narrated by Ibn Hibban.

Whoever prays in two rak’ahs, he will not be recorded, including those who forget. Whoever prays (Dhuhah) four rak’ahs, then he will be recorded including those who forget. Whoever prays (Dhuhah) is six rak’ahs, then he will be given sufficiency on that day. Whoever prays (Dhuhah) is eight rak’ahs, then Allah will record them, including those who pray. Whoever prays (Dhuha) eight rak’ahs, then Allah will make a house for him in Heaven … “

All readers! there are some important things related to some of the hadith above that we need to know;

One; Some of the hadith above explain the variation in the number of rak’ahs of Dhuha prayer. The prayer can be done with two, four, six, eight, ten, twelve rak’ahs, and so on. There are no specific provisions regarding the number of rak’ah prayer.

Two; The absence of special provisions regarding the number of rak’ahs shows that the Dhuhah prayer is a sunnah prayer (recommended), not obligatory prayer.

Three; Some of the hadiths above explain the difference in the virtues of the Dhuha prayer according to the differences in the rak’ah.

The intention to do Dhuha prayer is as follows;

I intend to do the sunnah Dhuha prayer, two rak’ahs, by facing the qiblah, because of Allah Ta’ala.

That is a brief explanation of the theme of this article. Do you understand? If you want to ask, please ask!

I think that is enough for this article. May be useful! Amen!

See you again in the next article!
