Duha Prayer and the Virtues
Duha Prayer and the Virtues ~ Hi all readers! In this article, I will explain the sunnah prayer that is carried out after the sun rises until before the time to perform the Dhuhr prayer. Here I will also explain its benefits. The prayer that I mean is Duha prayer.
As always, before I explain Duha prayer and the virtues further, I will quote some of the hadith that are specifically related to our discussion. Pay attention!
Hadith About Duha Prayer and the Virtues
The hadith about Duha prayer and the virtues that I mean is as follows:
From Aishah radliyallahu anha, she said, "Allah's Messenger sallallahu alaihi wa sallam pray (Duha) with four rak'ahs or he adds them according to Allah's will." The hadith is narrated by Muslim.
From Anas bin Malik radliyallahu anhu, he said, "Allah's Messenger sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said, "Whoever prays Duha in twelve rak'ahs, then Allah will make a palace for him in Heaven." This hadith is narrated by at-Tirmidhi.
From Aisha radliyallahu anha, she said, "The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam entered my house. Then he prays Duha eight rak'ahs." The hadith is narrated by Ibn Hibban.
Whoever prays Duha two rakats, then he will not be recorded as part of those who forget. Whoever prays (Duha) four rakats, then he will be recorded as part of those who worship. Whoever prays (Duha) six rakats, then he will be given sufficient on that day. Whoever prays (Duha) eight rakats, Allah will record it as part of those who pray. Whoever prays (Duha) eight rakats, Allah will make a house for him in Paradise…"
All readers! there are some important things related to some of the hadith above that we need to know;
- Some of the hadith above explain the variation in the number of rak'ahs of Duha prayer. The prayer can be done with two, four, six, eight, ten, twelve rak'ahs, and so on. There are no specific provisions regarding the number of rak’ah prayer.
- The absence of special provisions regarding the number of rak'ahs shows that the Duhah prayer is a sunnah prayer (recommended), not obligatory prayer.
- Some of the hadiths above explain the difference in the virtues of the Duha prayer according to the differences in the rak'ah.
The intention to do Duha prayer is as follows;
I intend to do the sunnah Duha prayer, two rak'ahs, by facing the qiblah, because of Allah Ta'ala.
That is a brief explanation of the theme of this article. Do you understand? If you want to ask, please ask!
I think that is enough for this article. May be useful! Amen!
