Hi all readers! Are you looking for an explanation about darul hijra mosque? If your answer is “yes”, congratulations! Now you are reading the right article. Why? Because that is what I will explain in this article. As Muslims, we must understand that. That’s why I wrote this article. So, you should read it to the end!

Specifically, there are five important things about darul hijra mosque which I will explain in this article. The five important things I mean are as follows:

  1. Can a Woman Go into Darul Hijra Mosque?
  2. What Are the Functions of Darul Hijra Mosque?
  3. Can a Woman Wear Pants Go to Darul Hijra Mosque?
  4. What Makes Darul Hijra Mosque Unique?
  5. What Is the Reward for Cleaning Darul Hijra Mosque?

Can a Woman Go into Darul Hijra Mosque?

The first important thing about darul hijra mosque which I will explain now is “can a woman go into darul hijra mosque?”. I want you to understand that first before you read more explanations in this article because it is one of the important questions about darul hijra mosque that must be well understood.

Before I explain the answer to the question (can a woman go into darul hijra mosque?), I will quote one hadith about women and mosques. The hadith I mean is as follows:

From Abu Hurairah radliyallahu anhu, he said, “The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said, “The best line of men in prayer is the foremost and the worst is the last. The best line of women in prayer is the last and the worst is the foremost.” The hadith is narrated by Muslim.

All readers! If we understand the above hadith, we can conclude that women can go to the mosque. Thus, the answer to the question (can a woman go into darul hijra mosque?), is “Yes, women can go into the darul hijra mosque”.

But there is one important thing I want to explain, that under certain conditions women are prohibited from entering the mosque. Some specific conditions that I mean are menstruation and junub. We can find this explanation in the hadith below:

عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ : قَالَ رَسُوْلُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : إِنِّيْ لَا أُحِلُّ الْمَسْجِدَ لِحَائِضٍ وَلَا جُنُبٍ . رَوَاهُ أَبُوْ دَاوُدَ

From Aisha radliyallahu anha, she said, “The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said, “Indeed I do not allow women who are menstruating and those who live in the mosque.” The hadith is narrated by Abu Daud.

That is a brief explanation of “can a woman go into darul hijra mosque?”. As Muslims, we must understand that.

What Are the Functions of Darul Hijra Mosque?

The second important thing about darul hijra mosque which I will explain now is “what are the functions of darul hijra mosque?”. I want you to understand all of that now because these are some important things about darul hijra mosque that must be well understood.

Before I explain the functions of darul hijra mosque, I will quote some verses of the Quran and hadith which are specifically related to the functions of mosque. Pay attention to the explanation below!

Quran Verses About General Functions of Mosque

There are many verses of the Quran that explain the general functions of mosque (in the same words: the functions of darul hijra mosque). Of course, I’m not going to explain all of that now. In this article, I will only describe two of them.

As for the two verses of the Quran about the functions of mosque, I am referring to the following:

وَأَنَّ الْمَسَاجِدَ لِلَّهِ فَلَا تَدْعُوا مَعَ اللَّهِ أَحَدًا

Verily, the mosques belong to Allah, so do not worship anyone but Allah. (Al-Jin: 18).

And who is more unjust than one who prevents the mention of Allah’s name in His mosques? (Al-Baqarah: 114).

Hadith About General Functions of Mosque

The hadith about the general functions of mosque (in the same words: the functions of darul hijra mosque) is as follows:

From Abu Hurairah radliyallaahu anhu, that Umar radliyallahu anhu met Hassan who was developing (poetry) in the mosque. He then looked at Hassan with a denying view. Hassan then said, “I have developed (poetry) in it (mosque). In it there is someone who is better than you.”The hadith is narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim.

From Aisha radliyallahu anha, she said, “Sa’ad was hit by an arrow at the time of the Khandaq war. The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam then made a tent for Sa’ad at the mosque, so that he could meet him from a nearby place.” The hadith is narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim.

Now, if we understand some of the verses of the Quran and hadith above, then we can conclude that the functions of darul hijra mosque are as follows:

One: worshiping Allah, such as praying, reading Salawat, Quran, Dhikr, and so on.

Two: social activities, such as compensation for orphans, social assistance, and so on.

Three: a place to rest, such as sleeping, and so on.

Of course, there are many functions of darul hijra mosque besides these three main things. One thing you must understand is that darul hijra mosque can be used for good things that do not conflict with Islamic law.

That is a brief explanation of “what are the functions of darul hijra mosque?”. As Muslims, we must understand that.

Can a Woman Wear Pants Go to Darul Hijra Mosque?

The third important thing about darul hijra mosque which I will explain now is “can a woman wear pants go to darul hijra mosque?”. I want you to understand that now because it is one of the most important questions about women and mosques.

Before I give you the answer to the question (can a woman wear pants go to darul hijra mosque?), I really hope you understand everything I have explained in the previous few paragraphs.

If we understand some of the explanations above, then we can conclude that someone who is allowed to enter the mosque are people who will do these good things, except for some people, such as women who are menstruating and Muslims who are in junub or have big hadas. In other words, women wearing pants may go to darul hijra mosque. It is a general rule in Islamic law.

That is a brief explanation of “can a woman wear pants go to darul hijra mosque?”. As Muslims, we must understand that.

What Makes Darul Hijra Mosque Unique?

The fourth important thing about darul hijra mosque which I will explain now is “what makes darul hijra mosque unique?”. I want you to understand that now because it is one of the important questions about darul hijra mosque that must be well understood.

Darul hijra Mosque is one of the mosques owned by Muslims. So, the standard of the uniqueness of Islamic teachings related to mosques.

Thus, one question that we must understand the answer to is, “How do we understand the uniqueness of the mosque in Islam (in the same words: the uniqueness of darul hijra mosque)?”.

I don’t know how Muslims understand the uniqueness of mosques in Islam. But, for me personally, the uniqueness of the mosque lies in the activities carried out in the mosque. Why?

The answer is because the main purpose of building a mosque is to worship Allah. It can be done by praying, reading the Quran, Dhikr, good social activities, and so on. All of that is proof that the Muslims have maximized the function of the mosque. Maximizing the function of the mosque is one proof of the success of the Muslims. We can find this explanation in the Quran below:

إِنَّمَا يَعْمُرُ مَسَاجِدَ اللَّهِ مَنْ آمَنَ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ

The mosques of Allah are only to be maintained by those who believe in Allah and the Last Day and establish prayer and give zakah and do not fear except Allah, for it is expected that those will be of the [rightly] guided. (At-Taubah: 18).

So, specifically, I want to say that the types of activities that are carried out in mosques are the standard of mosque uniqueness. That is what makes the mosque unique. That should be the standard for the uniqueness of the darul hijra mosque.

That is a brief explanation of “what makes darul hijra mosque unique?”. As Muslims, we must understand that.
