Posted on

Heart Busy with Other Affairs ~ Hi all readers! In this article, I will explain a condition that is often experienced by many people when they are praying. Yup! The condition that I mean is that the heart is busy with other matters when someone is praying. Maybe when we pray, we remember our work, our food, our money, our family, or others. The question is, does it damage prayer (salat)?

As always, before I answer the question above, I will quote a hadith that is specifically related to our discussion.

Hadith About Heart Busy with Other Affairs During Prayer (Salat)

The hadith about “Heart Busy with Other Affairs During Prayer (Salat)” that I mean is as follows;

From Anas radliyallaahu anhu, he said,” Aisha had Qiram which she used to cover the side of her house. The Prophet (Muhammad) sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam then said, “Get rid of this Qiram from us. Indeed, the pictures always come to me in my prayer.” The hadith is narrated by al-Bukhari.

There are some important things related to the hadith above that we need to know;

One; Qiram is a thin cloth made of wool.

Two; The hadith explains that we must eliminate everything that can disturb us when we are praying.

Three; The hadith explains that we may wear colored clothes when we are praying. Thus, we may also wear clothes that have inscriptions.

Four; The hadith explains that we must be sincere when we are praying. Thus, we must eliminate everything that can disturb us.

Five; The hadith explains that we must hurry to leave the world ornaments and slander.

Six; If our hearts are busy with other matters besides prayer, then it cannot cancel the prayer. I repeat again, it can’t cancel the prayer. It means that our prayers are still valid.
