From Umar bin Khattab radliyallahu anhu. He said, “While we were sitting with Messenger of Allah (Prophet Muhammad) sallallahu alaihi wa sallam eventually, all of a sudden a male who was wearing very white clothes and very black hair came to us. We didn’t see the darkness beneath him, until he attracted close to to the Messenger of Allah (Prophet Muhammad) sallallahu alaihi wa sallam. He after that leaned his knees on his (Prophet Muhammad’s) knees and put his 2 practical his (Prophet Muhammad) thighs. After that he said, “O Muhammad, inform me about Islam: what is Islam?” He (Prophet Muhammad) replied, “(Islam is) you birth witness that there’s no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, you perform prayers, you pay Zakat, you fast in Ramadan, and you perform Hajj if you’re able to do so.” (The hadith is long).

From Abdullah bin Umar radliyallahu anhuma, he said, “The Messenger of Allah (Prophet Muhammad) sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said, “Islam is improved 5 things; statement that there’s no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, doing prayers, paying zakat, fasting in Ramadan, and visiting Baitullah (carrying out Hajj).”
