Specifically, there are six important things about “committing Zina in Ramadan” which I will explain in this article. The six important things I mean are as follows:

The Dangers of Committing of Sin in Ramadan

The first important point about “committing Zina in Ramadan” that I will explain now is “the dangers of committing sin in Ramadan”. I want you to understand that before you read any more explanations in this article. Why? Because that is one of the basic things about this discussion that must be understood very well.

In general, committing sin in Ramadan is very dangerous. The point is that his sin will be multiplied. For example, if a person commits a sin in another month and he gets one sin, then if he commits a sin in Ramadan, then he will get a lot of sin.

We can find an explanation that committing sin in Ramadan is very dangerous in the hadith below:

Allah's Messenger (Prophet Muhammad) sallallahu alayhi wasallam said, "Indeed, my ummah will not be insulted as long as they establish the month of Ramadan." The Companions asked: "O Messenger of Allah, what is their form of humiliation in wasting the month of Ramadan?" He replied, "Violations of things that are forbidden in the month of Ramadan, such as zina or drinking khamr. Allah and the angels cursed him until the following year. If he dies before the next month of Ramadan, then he has nothing good with Allah that can save him from Hell. Therefore, be careful of the month of Ramadan, because the reward of good as well as evil will be multiplied."

In the above hadith it is explained that all the rewards of good and evil sins will be multiplied during Ramadan.

Maybe now you are wondering, why are the rewards of good and evil doubled during Ramadan?

Actually, there are many reasons. But the most common reason is because Ramadan is a very noble month in Islam. During Ramadan, Muslims are required to fast. The Quran was revealed in the month of Ramadan. In Ramadan there is a night called "Lailatul Qadar". Of course, I'm not going to explain all of that here.

So, the conclusion is that committing sins in Ramadan is very dangerous because the sins will be multiplied.

That is a brief explanation of the dangers of committing sin in Ramadan. As Muslims, we must understand that.

Zina During Fasting in Ramadan

The second important point about “committing zina in Ramadan” that I will explain now is “zina during fasting in Ramadan”. Specifically, I will explain the ugliness of Zina which is multiplied if it is done in Ramadan.

Zina is inserting the tip of the penis into the vagina of a woman who is not a wife according to Islam. So, if there are men and women who are not husband and wife according to Islam have done that, then that means they have committed Zina.

Zina is one of the major sins. Islam strictly forbids Muslims to do that. We can find this explanation in the Quran below:

And do not approach Zina. Indeed, it is a very heinous act and a bad way. (Al-Isra 17:32).

So, in general, Zina is a very bad act.

In the previous discussion, I have explained that if a bad thing is done in Ramadan, then the sin will be doubled. What is meant by ugliness in this discussion is all things that are prohibited in Islam, such as stealing, drunkenness, murder, lying, Zina and so on.

Zina is not just a bad deed, but very bad. So, if it is done in Ramadan, then its status as a very bad deed will be doubled. In simple terms, we can say that Zina in Ramadan is very very bad. Not a single Muslim denies that.

That is a brief explanation of Zina during fasting in Ramadan. As Muslims, we must understand that.

What is the Punishment for Zina in Ramadan?

The third important thing about “committing Zina in Ramadan” which I will explain now is “what is the punishment for Zina in Ramadan?”. Specifically, I will explain it according to Islamic law.

In general, if we read some Islamic legal literature on the punishment for Zina in Ramadan, then we will not find any difference between the punishment for Zina in ordinary months and the punishment for Zina in Ramadan. In some previous explanations it was explained that Zina in Ramadan has very fatal consequences. But what we have to understand is that it has nothing to do with the punishment a Muslim would receive for doing that. The fatal consequences are only related to bad consequences other than formal consequences or punishments in Islam as described in Islamic legal literacy.

In Islam, there are two types of Zina: Zina before marriage and Zina after marriage. Each has its own consequences.

Punishment for Zina Before Marriage in Ramadan

Now I will explain the punishment for Zina before marriage in Ramadan. As we have understood that Zina before marriage is a sexual activity carried out by men and women who have never been married. In Islamic legal literacy, Zina before marriage is called

The punishment for those who have committed Zina before marriage is being lashed one hundred times and exiled for one year. We can find this explanation in the Quran and hadith below:

The woman who commits Zina and the man who commits Zina, then lash each of them a hundred times, and do not have mercy on them both in carrying out the religion of Allah if you believe in Allah and the Last Day (the Day of Resurrection), and let the punishment for they were both witnessed by some of the believers. (An-Nur 24:2).

Al-Bukhari has narrated a hadith from Abu Hurairah, that the Prophet (Muhammad) sallallahu alayhi wa salla had made a legal decision for people who had committed Zina before marriage, by being exiled to a place and punished.

One important thing that we must understand is that the punishment can only be carried out in areas or countries that do use Islamic law. So, the punishment cannot be carried out in areas or countries that do not use Islamic law. Islamic law I mean here is Islamic law as a whole as Islamic law at the time of the Prophet Muhammad and some period after that.

That is the punishment for Zina before marriage in Ramadan according to Islamic law. As Muslims, we must understand that.

Punishment for Zina After Marriage in Ramadan

Now I will explain the punishment for Zina after marriage in Ramadan. As we have understood that Zina after marriage is a sexual activity carried out by married men and women. In Islamic legal literacy, Zina before marriage is called الزِّنَا الْمُحْصَنُ.

The punishment for those who commit Zina after marriage in Ramadan is lashing until he dies. We can find this explanation in the hadith below:

From Abu Hurairah radliyallahu anhu, he said, "There was a Muslim who once came to the Messenger of Allah (Prophet Muhammad) sallallahu alayhi wa sallam while he was in the mosque. The Muslim then called him, "O Messenger of Allah, indeed I have committed Zina." He then turned away from the Muslim. He then looked away from the person's face. The person then said, "O Messenger of Allah, indeed I have committed Zina." He then turned away from the person. This incident was repeated four times. When that person had testified for himself four times, Allah's Messenger then called him and asked, "Are you crazy?" The person said, "No". He then asked, "Are you married?" The person said, "Yes." Allah's Messenger sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam then said, "Go with him and lash him." This hadith was narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim.

One important thing that we must understand is that the punishment of lashing to death for people who have committed Zina after marriage can only be carried out in areas or countries that do use Islamic law. So, the punishment cannot be carried out in areas or countries that do not use Islamic law. Islamic law I mean here is Islamic law as a whole as Islamic law at the time of the Prophet Muhammad and some period after that.

That is the punishment for Zina after marriage in Ramadan according to Islamic law. As Muslims, we must understand that.

What Happens If You Commit Zina in Ramadan?

The fourth important point about “committing Zina in Ramadan” which I will explain now is “what happens if you commit Zina in Ramadan?”. I want you to understand that because it is not only about formal punishment for Zina, but also about informal punishment. In other words, now I will explain all the consequences that will be received by Muslims who have committed Zina in Ramadan.

In general, there are two consequences that will be received by Muslims who have committed Zina in Ramadan:

  • Muslims who commit Zina in Ramadan will receive formal punishment as described in Islamic legal literacy.

So, if a Muslim commits Zina before marriage in Ramadan, then he must be lashed up to a hundred times and exiled somewhere. But if he commits Zina after marriage in Ramadan, then he must be whipped until he dies.

  • The Muslim who commits Zina in Ramadan will lose all his good rewards and he will be cursed by Allah and the angels for one year.

That's a brief explanation of "what happens if you commit Zina in Ramadan?". As Muslims, we must understand that.

Will Allah Forgive You for Zina in Ramadan?

The fifth important thing about “committing Zina in Ramadan” which I will explain now is “will Allah forgive you for Zina in Ramadan?”. I want you to understand that so you know if you can repent and forgive sins if you commit Zina in Ramadan.

One important thing that we must always remember is that Allah will forgive all sins if the person who has done it repents sincerely. Zina in Ramadan is a type of sin. So, the conclusion is that Allah will forgive Zina in Ramadan if you have done that.

There are verses in the Quran and hadiths that explain it. Pay attention to the explanation below!

Quran About Forgiveness for Zina in Ramadan

As for the Quran about forgiveness for Zina in Ramadan, what I mean is as follows:

Know that Allah is severe in requiting (evil) and that Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. (Al-Maidah [05]: 98).

Then hasten on from the Place from which the people hasten on and ask the forgiveness of Allah; surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. (Al-Baqarah [02]; 199).

So, I said (to them, "Ask your Lord for forgiveness (reading Istighfar), verily He is the Most Forgiving (Nuh [71]; 10).

Surely Allah does not forgive that anything should be associated with Him, and He forgives what is besides this to whom He pleases; and whoever associates anything with Allah, he indeed strays off into a remote error. (An-Nisa’ [04]; 116).

Surely Allah does not forgive that anything should be associated with Him, and forgives what is besides that to whomsoever He pleases; and whoever associates anything with Allah, he devises indeed a great sin. (An-Nisa’ [04]; 48).

Hadith About Forgiveness for Zina in Ramadan

As for the hadith about forgiveness for Zina in Ramadan what I mean is as follows:

At-Tirmidhi narrated from Anas, from the Messenger of Allah (Prophet Muhammad) sallallahu alaihi wa sallam. He said, "Allah Taala said; O son of Adam, if your sins have reached the side of the sky then you ask for my forgiveness (reading Istighfar), then I will forgive you."

Al-Baihaqi, al-Ashbahani, and Ibn Abi ad-Dunya narrated from Anas, that the Messenger of Allah (Prophet Muhammad) sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said, "There is no servant or people who ask forgiveness from Allah (reciting Istighfar) every day until seventy times, unless he will not be recorded as a liar. And whoever asks forgiveness from Allah (reciting Istighfar) every night up to seventy times, then he will not be recorded as someone who forgot."

Ahmad and al-Hakim reported, "Satan said," For the sake of Your glory, I will always plunge Your servants into sin as long as their souls are still in their bodies. " Allah Azza wa Jalla said, "For the sake of My glory and My majesty, I will always forgive them as long as they ask forgiveness from Me (reading Istighfar)."

That's a brief explanation of "will Allah forgive you for Zina in Ramadan?". As Muslims, we must understand that.

How to Repent for Zina in Ramadan?

The sixth important thing about "committing Zina in Ramadan" which I will explain now is "how to repent for Zina in Ramadan?". Specifically, I will explain what must be done to repent if a Muslim has committed Zina in Ramadan.

In general, there is no difference between repenting for Zina in Ramadan and repenting for Zina in other months. Repenting requires seriousness so that Allah forgives the sins that have been committed.

In general, some things that must be done to repent for Zina in Ramadan are as follows:

  1. Realize that Zina is a great sin.
  2. Stopping Zina.
  3. Regretting Zina.
  4. Swearing never to commit Zina again.
  5. Perform the prayer of repentance.
  6. Often read istighfar.
  7. Often read salawat.

In several previous articles I have explained a lot about it all. I'm not going to explain that anymore now.

That's a brief explanation of "how to repent for Zina in Ramadan?". As Muslims, we must understand that.

That's a brief explanation of "committing Zina in Ramadan" and six important things about it. Do you understand? If you want to ask, please ask!

I think that's enough for this article. Hope it is useful. Amen.

See you again in the next article!
