Category: Qunut
Qunut (Arabic: القنوت) literally means “being obedient” or “the act of standing” in Classical Arabic. The word dua (Arabic: دعاء) is Arabic for supplication, so the longer phrase dua Qunut is sometimes used. Qunut has many linguistic meanings, such as humility, obedience and devotion.
Dua Qunut (or sometimes referred to as dua-e-qunoot or qunut dua) is a special supplication which is mentioned in the hadith. It is often recited and known for it’s association with the Witr salah.
