Prayer Without Wudu
Prayer Without a Wudu Forgetfully
Prayer Without Wudu. Filtration is a problem for the credibility of Prayer. Wudu should be made with distilled water. Allah says in the Qur’an, “O you that think, when you rise for prayer, wash your faces and your hands up to the elbow joints and gently scmassage your goings and (wash) your feet up to the ankle joints.” (Al-Mai’dah 6).
Sheikh Ibn `Uthaymeen, a popular Saudi Muslim scholar (may Allah shower grace on his soul), specifies that: “Whoever prays failing to remember that he didn’t have wudu’ needs to duplicate the Prayer. Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be delighted with him) reported that the Carrier (tranquility and true blessings be after him) said, “Allah does decline any Prayer if an individual damages his wudu’, until he does wudu'” (Al-Bukhari). This is as opposed to the individual that has some impurity (najasah) on his clothes and forgets it. He doesn’t need to duplicate his Prayer. Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri (may Allah be delighted with him) reported that Jibreel concerned the Prophet (tranquility and true blessings of Allah be after him) while he was praying and informed him that there was something filthy on his shoes. He took them off and continued praying (Ahmad). This hadith proves that the one that is uninformed of the najasah doesn’t need to duplicate his Prayer, and this uses also to the one that forgets that there’s some najasah present.”
If He Prays Without Wudu by Mistake, He Needs to Pepeat His Prayer
Sometimes after prayers I keep in mind that I had not undergone wudu. Again, should I do my woudou and pray again?
Yes, you need to do wudu and duplicate your prayer. The scholars are unanimously concurred on that particular, because pureness (tahaarah) is among the problems of prayer being legitimate. The proof for that’s words of the Prophet (tranquility and true blessings of Allaah be after him): “Allaah does decline the prayer of any one of you if he damages his wudu, unless he does wudu again.” Told by al-Bukhaari, 6954; Muslim, 225.
Muslim (224) told that ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Umar said: I listened to the Carrier of Allaah (tranquility and true blessings of Allaah be after him) say: “No prayer is approved without filtration.”
Al-Nawawi (may Allaah have grace on him) said in al-Majmoo’, 2/79:
The Muslims are unanimously concurred that it’s haraam for an individual that has broken his wudu to pray, and they are unanimously concurred that his prayer isn’t legitimate, whether he understands that he damaged his wudu or is uninformed of that or forgot. But if he prayed because he was uninformed of it or forgot, after that there’s no transgression on him, but if he was aware that he had broken his wudu which it was haraam for him to pray in this circumstance, after that he has dedicated a serious transgression.
