Danger of Competing to Build a Mosque

Danger of competing to build a mosque ~ Hi all readers! In this article, I will explain the dangers of competing to build a mosque. I think we all understand the meaning of the term. Yup! The point is competition between Muslims to build a magnificent mosque. Facts like that have happened now. Many mosques are built at a very expensive cost, but the main function is less attention. In Islam, it is very dangerous.

As always, before I explain danger of competing to build a mosque further, I will quote a hadith that is specifically related to our discussion. Pay attention!

Hadith About Danger of Competing to Build a Mosque

The hadith about danger of competing to build a mosque that I mean is as follows:

عَنْ أَنَسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ ؛ قَالَ رَسُوْلُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؛ لَا تَقُوْمُ السَّاعَةُ حَتَّى يَتَبَاهَى النَّاسُ فِيْ الْمَسَاجِدِ . أَخْرَجَهُ السَّبْعَةُ إِلَّا التِّرْمِذِيُّ

From Anas radliyallaahu anhu, he said, “The Messenger of Allah sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam said, “Day of Judgment will not happen until it competes to build mosques.” The hadith is narrated by seven people except at-Tirmidhi (Ahmad, al- Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Daud, an-Nasa’i, Ibn Majah).

There are some important things related to the hadith above that we need to know;

One; The hadith above warns that we are not competing in building mosques and that we do not compete to decorate them, because that includes the customs of Ahli Kitab and one of the signs that the Day of Judgment will occur.

Two; The hadith explains the miracles of the Prophet Muhammad, because in the hadith he told what would happen in the future.

All readers! The hadith above does not specifically explain the dangers of competing to build a mosque. That only explains, that vying to build a mosque is one sign that the Day of Judgment will come. But, pay attention! In Islamic teachings, Judgment Day is the beginning of the afterlife; Heaven and hell. At that time there was no chance to repent.

Secondly, of course we know that competing to build a mosque requires a huge amount of money. A beautiful and magnificent mosque will be a waste if there are no activities that are comparable to the costs that have been used.
