Meaning of Best Age to Get Married in Islam

The first important point about “best age to get married in Islam” that I will explain here is the meaning of the phrase “best age to get married in Islam”. I want you to understand that so you can understand the focus of our discussion now.

If we look at the phrase “best age to get married in Islam”, then we will understand that what is meant is the maximum age for Muslims to get married. But the question is what is the best age standard for marriage in Islam?

Before I answer that question, I will explain that there are several things that a Muslim must have in order to get married. These things become the standard whether they are eligible for marriage or not. Some of the things I mean are as follows:

One: Muslims must have money to get married.

What is meant by Muslims having to pay for marriage is that they are able to provide all the necessities for marriage, such as the cost of paying dowry and so on. These costs can come from their work or help from other people, such as parents, siblings, and so on. One important thing about that that we have to understand is that if Muslims get married, then they don’t have to throw a party. Marriage in Islam can be done very simply.

Two: Muslims must have money for their daily needs.

What is meant by Muslims having to pay for their daily needs is that they must have a job to buy food, drink, clothes, a house (or rented house), and so on that they need after marriage. These are the basic needs of everyone. One important thing about it that we must understand, that life after marriage in Islam does not have to be luxurious. They can live simply like the Prophet Muhammad and his wives.

Three: Muslims must be able to have sex

What it means that Muslims should be able to have sex is that they should be able to do it. Why? The answer is because sex is everyone’s biological need. In other words, if they are not able to do that, then they are not recommended to get married.

That is a brief explanation of the meaning of “best age to get married in Islam” and some important things about it that we must understand.

Quran and Hadith About Marriage

The second important point about the “best age to get married in Islam” which I will explain here is the Quran and hadiths about marriage. I want you to understand all that so that you understand the basic arguments for marriage in Islam.

As for the Quran and hadith regarding marriage, what I mean is as follows:

And marry those among you who are single and those who are fit among your male slaves and your female slaves; if they are needy, Allah will make them free from want out of His grace; and Allah is Ample-giving, Knowing. (An-Nur [24]; 32).

From Ibn Mas’ud radliyallahu anhu, he said, “The messenger of Allah sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam said to us, “O young people, anyone of you who can have sex, then he must get married. Indeed it (marriage) is better able to keep eye sight and better able to maintain vital organs. Anyone who can’t, then he must fast because it actually suppresses the desire to have sex.”

There are four things that are included in the Sunnah of the Messengers of Allah: shyness, wearing perfume, Siwak, and getting married.

That’s the Quran and hadith about marriage in Islam. As Muslims, we must understand all of this.

Age of Prophet Muhammad When He Married

The third important point about the “best age to get married in Islam” which I will explain here is the age of the Prophet Muhammad when he married. I want you to understand that because he is the most noble human being in the history of Islam. He is the standard for determining whether a thing is a good thing or not a good thing. The same goes for marriage in Islam.

By the way, do you know when Prophet Muhammad first married and with whom he married?

If we read Islamic historical data about it, we will find an explanation that the Prophet Muhammad married the first time at the age of 25 years. His first wife was Khadijah bint Khuwaylid. At that time he already had a job, able to provide solutions to human problems. He is a normal person who is able to do whatever is needed after marriage.
