Hi all readers! In this article, I will explain the virtues of bathing on Friday. If we understand Islamic teachings, then we know that there is a difference between bathing done on Friday and bathing done on a normal day. There are many advantages that a person will get if he wants to do that – of course with a number of processes that must be done, not just bathing.
As usual, before I explain the virtues of bathing on Friday further, I will quote one hadith that is specifically related to our discussion.
Hadith About the Virtues of Bathing on Friday
The hadith about the virtues of bathing on Friday that I mean is as follows;
عَنْ أَبِيْ هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُوْلُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : مَنْ اِغْتَسَلَ ثُمَّ أَتَى الْجُمُعَةَ فَصَلَّى مَا قَدَرَ لَهُ , ثُمَّ أَنْصَتَ حَتَّى يَفْرُغَ الْإِمَامَ مِنْ خُطْبَتِهِ , ثُمَّ يُصَلِّي مَعَهُ غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الْجُمُعَةِ الْأُخْرَى وَفَضَّلَ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ . رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ
From Abu Hurairah radliyallahu ‘anhu, he said, “Messenger of Allah sallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said, “Whoever takes a bath then comes to the place of Friday prayer, then he performs the sunnah prayer according to his ability, then he is silent until Imam finishes Friday prayer sermon, then he prays (Friday prayers) with Imam, so his sins on that Friday until the next Friday is forgiven, and he gets good for three days.” The hadith was narrated by Muslim.
There are some important things related to the above hadith that we need to know;
One: The hadith explains the importance of bathing before Friday prayer.
Two: The hadith explains the suggestion to perform the sunnah prayer before Imam doing Friday prayer sermon.
Three: The hadith explains that someone is silent when Imam doing Friday prayer sermon.
Four: The hadith explains forgiveness for those who do that. The period of expiration is seven days plus three days. So, the total is ten days.
Five: The hadith explains the virtues of Friday prayer which exceeds the other obligatory prayers. The obligatory prayers other than Friday prayers can erase sins between the two prayers, but Friday prayers as explained in the hadith above.

All Readers! There is an important point that I want to say related to hadith above, that according to the majority of Islamic legal experts, the sins forgiven are small sins. The information in the hadith does not include major sins, because big sins can only be removed by repentance.
