The first important point regarding Simple Steps to Convert to Islam in Brunei what I will discuss currently is "what is Islam in simple words?". I want you to understand that first before you find out more explanations in this article because it's a standard question in this conversation that must be understood properly.

Generally, many people understand that Islam is the religious beliefs of the last skies. What I mean by the faith of heaven is the religious beliefs that originates from God (Allah). Islam was brought by the Prophet Muhammad as the last Prophet and Messenger of Allah.

That's right right. You're not incorrect if you understand Islam in simple words how it is discussed in the paragraph above. But there are some various other very simple things that can make you understand what Islam is.

We can find an description of some various other very simple things that can make you understand what Islam remains in simple words in the hadith below:

From Umar bin Khattab radliyallahu anhu. He said, "While we were resting with Messenger of Allah (Prophet Muhammad) sallallahu alaihi wa sallam eventually, all of a sudden a male who was wearing very white clothes and very black hair came to us. We didn't see the darkness beneath him, until he attracted close to to the Messenger of Allah (Prophet Muhammad) sallallahu alaihi wa sallam. He after that leaned his knees on his (Prophet Muhammad's) knees and put his 2 practical his (Prophet Muhammad) thighs. After that he said, "O Muhammad, tell me about Islam: what is Islam?" He (Prophet Muhammad) replied, "(Islam is) you birth witness that there's no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, you perform prayers, you pay Zakat, you fast in Ramadan, and you perform Hajj if you're able to do so." (The hadith is long).

Ladies and Gentlemen! If we understand the hadith over, we can conclude that Islam in simple words is as complies with:

  • Bear witness that there's no god but Allah and that Muhammad is Allah's Messenger.
  • Perform the obligatory prayers 5 times a day (Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha).
  • Paying Zakat for Muslims that have the responsibility to pay Zakat.
  • Fasting in the month of Ramadan.
  • Doing Hajj for those Muslims who are able to do so.

Those are five important things that we can use as a standard to understand Islam in simple words. These 5 points are the 5 columns of Islam. We can find this explanation in the hadith listed below:

From Abdullah bin Umar radliyallahu anhuma, he said, "The Messenger of Allah (Prophet Muhammad) sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said, "Islam is built on 5 things; testament that there's no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, doing prayers, paying zakat, fasting in Ramadan, and visiting Baitullah (carrying out Hajj)."
