There are four key aspects of simple steps to convert to Islam in Brunei that I will explain in this article. The four essential points are as follows:
What Is Islam in Simple Words?
The first key point regarding simple steps to convert to Islam in Brunei is understanding "What is Islam in simple words?" Before exploring further, you must first grasp this fundamental concept.
Easy Ways to Convince a Christian to Convert to Islam
Islam is the final divine religion. It originates from Allah and was conveyed by Prophet Muhammad as the last Prophet and Messenger of Allah.
If you understand Islam as described above, you are correct. However, there are some additional fundamental aspects that can further clarify what Islam is.
We can find an explanation of these essential aspects in the following hadith:
From Umar bin Khattab (رضي الله عنه), he said: "While we were sitting with the Messenger of Allah (Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم), a man with extremely white clothes and very black hair approached us. We did not recognize him, nor did he appear to be a traveler. He then sat close to the Prophet, placed his knees against the Prophet's knees, and rested his hands on the Prophet's thighs. Then he said: 'O Muhammad, tell me about Islam.' Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) replied, 'Islam is to bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, to establish prayer, to give zakat, to fast in Ramadan, and to perform Hajj if you are able to do so.'"
From this hadith, we can conclude that Islam consists of five pillars:
- Bearing witness that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is His Messenger.
- Performing five daily prayers (Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha).
- Paying zakat for those who are obligated to do so.
- Fasting during Ramadan.
- Performing Hajj for those who are able.
These five principles are the five pillars of Islam, as confirmed in another hadith:
From Abdullah bin Umar (رضي الله عنهما), he said: "The Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: 'Islam is built on five pillars: bearing witness that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is His Messenger, performing prayers, paying zakat, fasting in Ramadan, and performing Hajj if able.'"
Is It True That Islam Is a Great Religion?
The second key point is understanding whether Islam is truly a great religion.
There are two main reasons why Islam is a great religion:
- Islam guarantees happiness in both this world and the Hereafter for those who sincerely practice its teachings.
- The authenticity of Islam's primary sources—the Quran and Hadith—has been preserved throughout history, ensuring the integrity of Islamic teachings.
Is Converting to Islam Acceptable?
The third key point is answering the question: Is converting to Islam acceptable? The answer is YES! Converting to Islam is perfectly acceptable and encouraged for those who seek the truth. However, embracing Islam must be based on faith in the six pillars of belief:
- Belief in Allah.
- Belief in Allah's angels.
- Belief in Allah's messengers.
- Belief in Allah's books.
- Belief in the Day of Judgment.
- Belief in Divine Decree (Qadr), both good and bad.
Simple Steps to Convert to Islam in Brunei
The fourth and final point is the actual process of converting to Islam in Brunei.
To convert to Islam, you must fulfill two essential steps:
- Embrace the six pillars of belief (as mentioned above).
- Recite the Shahada (Testimony of Faith):
"I testify that there is no god but Allah, and I testify that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah."
By sincerely reciting this declaration, you officially become a Muslim.
Conclusion
Converting to Islam is a simple yet profound step that requires faith and commitment. By understanding Islam's core principles, recognizing its authenticity, and sincerely declaring the Shahada, anyone can embrace Islam in Brunei or anywhere in the world.
May Allah guide us all to the right path. Ameen!
