Two People Echo Adhan in Mosque: Allowed or Not?
Two People Echo Adhan in Mosque ~ Hi all readers! In the previous articles, I explained a little about prayer. As we have seen, before prayers were made, there were usually people who echoed the call to prayer in the mosque as a notification that the time for prayer had arrived. I think we also know, that the sentences uttered in the call to prayer are praise to God, testimony, and an invitation to pray. Usually, in one mosque there is one person who is assigned to proclaim the call to prayer. But the question is, can there be two people or even more echo adhan in one mosque?
But before I wanted to apologize to all of you because for the past few days, I couldn't write any articles for this blog. There are several reasons that I can't explain to all of you! Yup! As always, before I explain this theme further, I will first quote one hadith that is specifically related to our discussion. Pay attention!
Hadith About Two People Echo Adhan in Mosque
The hadith about two people echo Adhan in Mosque that I mean is as follows:
From Umar and Aisha radliyallaahu anhumaa. They both said, "Allah's Messenger sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam said, "Verily Bilal did the call to prayer at night. Eat and drink until Ibn Ummi Maktum exclaims (he is a blind man who does not do the call to prayer so he is called "You have entered at morning (Fajr), you have entered in the morning (Fajr)." The hadith is narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim.
There are some important things related to the hadith above that we need to know;
- The hadith explains that it is possible to appoint two people echo adhan in one mosque. At the time of the Prophet Muhammad there were five people who echo adhan alternately; Bilal bin Rabah, Abdullah bin Ummi Maktum, Abu Mahdzurah al-Makki, Sa'ad al-Qaradhi, and Ziyad bin Harith al-Shada'i.
- People who will fast are recommended to eat first (sahur). Sahur is meant to eat before the second dawn appears. Now all Muslims around the world are fasting for a full month. So, please pay attention to the information that I have explained in the first and third point.
- For people who will fast, the maximum limit of eating is until the second dawn appears, a few moments before the adhan for Fajr (Subuh) prayer is echoed.
- A blind person can say a call to prayer if he can understand the time to say it, for example, someone tells him about it.
All readers! If we understand the information above, then of course we already know the answer to the question above. Yup! The answer is, "it can be done". This fact existed at the time of the Prophet Muhammad.
That is a brief explanation of Adhan in Mosque. If you have questions, please ask!
I think that is enough for this article. May be useful! Amen!
See you again in the next article!
