In particular, there are four important aspects of the general rules to convert to Islam in Egypt that I will describe in this article. The four key points are as follows:
What Is Islam in Simple Words?
The first key point about the general rules to convert to Islam in Egypt that I will discuss is "What is Islam in simple words?" It is essential to understand this before diving deeper into the topic, as it forms the foundation of this discussion.
Easy Ways to Convince a Christian to Convert to Islam
In general, many people understand that Islam is the final divine religion. What I mean by "divine religion" is a faith that originates from God (Allah). Islam was brought by Prophet Muhammad, the last Prophet and Messenger of Allah.
That understanding is correct. However, there are also other simple explanations that can help you better understand Islam.
One of the simplest explanations about Islam can be found in the following hadith:
From Umar bin Khattab (رضي الله عنه), he said: "While we were with Allah's Messenger (Prophet Muhammad SAW), suddenly, a man wearing very white clothes and with very black hair approached us. We saw no signs of travel on him, and none of us knew him. He sat near the Messenger of Allah (Prophet Muhammad SAW), placed his knees against his, and put his hands on his thighs. Then he said, 'O Muhammad, tell me about Islam.' The Prophet SAW replied, '(Islam is) to testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, to establish prayer, to give zakat, to fast in Ramadan, and to perform Hajj if one is able to do so.'" (The hadith continues.)
From this hadith, we can conclude that Islam, in simple terms, consists of five main pillars:
- Testifying that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is His Messenger.
- Performing the five daily prayers (Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha).
- Giving zakat for those who are eligible.
- Fasting during the month of Ramadan.
- Performing Hajj for those who are able.
These five pillars are the foundation of Islam, as explained in another hadith:
From Abdullah bin Umar (رضي الله عنهما), he said: "The Messenger of Allah (Prophet Muhammad SAW) said: 'Islam is built on five pillars: Testifying that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, establishing prayer, giving zakat, fasting in Ramadan, and performing Hajj to the House (Kaaba).'"
Is Islam a Great Religion for Us?
The second key point about the general rules to convert to Islam in Egypt is: "Is Islam a great religion for us?" It is essential to understand this before deciding to embrace Islam.
There are two main reasons why Islam is a great religion:
- Islam guarantees happiness in this life and the hereafter for those who practice its teachings sincerely.
- The authenticity of Islam's two primary sources—the Quran and the Hadith—has been preserved throughout history, ensuring its divine truth remains intact.
In simple terms, if you ask, "Is Islam a great religion?" The answer is: "Absolutely! Islam is the perfect faith for us."
Is Converting to Islam Allowed?
The third key point is: "Is converting to Islam allowed?" The answer is Yes! Converting to Islam is completely permissible and encouraged for those who seek the truth.
However, conversion should be based on the six pillars of faith:
- Belief in Allah.
- Belief in Allah's angels.
- Belief in Allah's messengers.
- Belief in Allah's revealed books.
- Belief in the Day of Judgment.
- Belief in divine predestination, both good and bad.
General Rules to Convert to Islam in Egypt
The fourth key point is a specific explanation of the general rules for converting to Islam in Egypt.
If you want to convert to Islam, you must do two things:
- Believe in the six pillars of faith (as explained above).
- Recite the Shahada (Declaration of Faith):
I testify that there is no god but Allah, and I testify that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.
Conclusion
