There are four important points regarding the general guidelines for converting to Islam in Bahrain that I will describe in this article. These four key points are as follows:

What Is Islam in Simple Words?

The first important point regarding the general guidelines for converting to Islam in Bahrain that I will discuss is "What is Islam in simple words?" I want you to understand this first before diving into more details in this article because it is a fundamental question that must be understood properly.

Easy Ways to Convince a Christian to Convert to Islam

In general, many individuals understand that Islam is the faith from the heavens. By "faith from the heavens," I mean the religion that comes from Allah (God). Islam was brought by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as the last Prophet and Messenger of Allah.

That's right; you're not mistaken if you understand Islam in simple words as explained in the paragraph above. However, there are a few additional, very simple concepts that can help you understand what Islam truly is.

We can find a deeper explanation in the following hadith:

From Umar bin Khattab (RA), he said: "While we were sitting with the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) one day, a man wearing very white clothes and very black hair came to us. We saw no signs of travel on him, and we did not recognize him. He sat down near the Messenger of Allah (PBUH), leaned his knees against his knees, and placed his hands on his thighs. Then he said, 'O Muhammad, tell me about Islam. What is Islam?' The Prophet (PBUH) replied, 'Islam is to bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, to establish the prayer, pay the Zakat, fast during Ramadan, and perform Hajj if you are able to do so.'"

From this hadith, we can conclude that Islam in simple words is as follows:

  1. Bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.
  2. Perform the obligatory prayers five times a day (Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha).
  3. Pay Zakat for Muslims who are obligated to do so.
  4. Fast during the month of Ramadan.
  5. Perform Hajj for those Muslims who are able to do so.

These are the five pillars of Islam, which we can also find in the following hadith:

From Abdullah bin Umar (RA), he said: "The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, 'Islam is built upon five pillars: bearing witness that there is no god but Allah, and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah; establishing the prayer; giving the Zakat; fasting during Ramadan; and performing Hajj.'"

That is a brief explanation of "what is Islam in simple words?" As Muslims, we must understand this.
