Specifically, there are three important things about "Duha prayer and how to pray Duha prayer?" which I will explain in this article. The three important things I mean are as follows:
What Is Duha Prayer?
The first important thing about "Duha prayer and how to pray Duha prayer?" what I will explain now is "what is Duha prayer?". I want you to understand that first before you read any further explanations in this article because it is one of the important questions in this discussion that should be well understood.
Linguistically, Duha prayer is an Arabic sentence. The writing is صَلَاةُ الضُّحَى. So, there are two words in the sentence that must be understood properly: prayer (صَلَاةُ) and Duha (الضُّحَى).
If we read some Islamic literacy about prayer (صَلَاةُ), we will find an explanation that the meaning of prayer (صَلَاةُ) is as follows:
Salat according to the Arabic meaning is dua.
Salat according to the meaning of the term are utterances and actions that begin with takbir and end with salaam.
The meaning of Duha (الضُّحَى) is as follows:
Duha is the rising of the sun and the start of the day until the light is bright.
Now, what is Duha prayer?
If we understand some brief explanations about the meaning of prayer (صَلَاةُ) and the meaning of Duha (الضُّحَى), we can conclude that Duha prayer (صَلَاةُ الضُّحَى) is a prayer performed at Duha time. This means that the time for Duha prayer is after sunrise until before the Zuhr prayer.
In Islamic legal literacy, Duha prayer is one type of sunnah prayer or recommended prayer. The Muslims will be rewarded if they do that. If they don't do that, they don't sin.
That is a brief explanation of "what is Duha prayer?". As Muslims, we must understand that.
Hadith About Duha Prayer
The second important thing about “Duha Prayer and How to Pray Duha Prayer?” what I will explain now is hadith about Duha prayer. I want you to understand that because it is one of the important discussions about Duha prayer in Islamic legal literacy.
In simple terms, I want to say that there are many hadiths about Duha prayer. Of course, I'm not going to explain all of that now. In this article, I will only explain five hadiths about Duha prayer.
The five hadiths about Duha prayer that I mean are as follows:
From Abu Hurairah radiyallahu anhu, he said, "My beloved (Prophet Muhammad) sallallahu alayhi wa sallam has instructed me three things: fasting three days every month, two rakats in Duha prayer, and praying Witr before I go to sleep."
The hadith above explains that Duha prayer is one of the most recommended types of sunnah prayers. In the hadith it is explained that the Prophet Muhammad made a will to Abu Hurairah that he performs Duha prayer.
From Aisha radliyallahu anha, she said, "The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam prays Duha four rak'ahs or he increases it according to Allah's will." This hadith was narrated by Muslim.
The above hadith describes the rakat in Duha prayer. Duha prayer can be done with four or more rakat.
From Anas bin Malik radliyallahu anhu, he said, "The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said, "Whoever prays Duhah twelve rak'ahs, Allah will build a palace for him in Heaven." The hadith was narrated by at-Tirmidhi.
The above hadith explains the Duha prayer benefits with twelve rak'ahs, that if someone does that, then Allah will build a palace in Heaven for him.
From Aisha radliyallahu anha, she said, "The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam entered my house. Then he prayed eight rak'ahs of Duha." This hadith was narrated by Ibn Hibban.
The above hadith describes the rakat in Duha prayer (How Many Rakat in Duha Prayer?). Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam once performed Duha prayer with eight rak'ahs.
Whoever prays Duha two rak’ahs, then he will not be recorded as part of those who forget. Whoever prays (Duha) four rak'ahs, then he will be recorded as part of those who worship. Whoever prays (Duha) six raka, then he will be given sufficient on that day. Whoever prays (Duha) eight rak'ahs, Allah will record it as part of those who pray. Whoever prays (Duha) eight rak'ahs, Allah will make a house for him in Paradise…"

How to Perform Duha Prayer?
The third important thing about “Duha prayer and how to pray Duha prayer?” what I will explain now is "how to perform Duha prayer?". I want you to understand that because it is one of the important topics in this article that should be well understood.
In general, there are four important things that we must do if we want to perform Duha prayer. The four important things I mean are as follows:
- We have to cleanse our bodies from small and large hadas.
- We must perform the conditions of prayer, such as facing the Qiblah, wearing holy clothes, and so on.
- We have to say niyyah for Duha prayer when we do Takbir Ihram. The niyyah for Duha prayer is as follows:
I intend to do the sunnah Duha prayer, two rakats, by facing the qiblah, because of Allah Taala.
- We have to do all the obligations in prayer such as reading surah al-Fatihah, bowing, prostration, sitting between two prostration, tashahhud, and so on.
