There are four important points regarding the best guidelines to convert to Islam in the Philippines that I will cover in this article. These four key points are as follows:
What Is Islam in Simple Words?
The first key point in understanding the best guidelines to convert to Islam in the Philippines is answering the question: "What is Islam in simple words?" Before diving deeper into this discussion, it is essential to first grasp this fundamental concept.
Easy Ways to Convince a Christian to Convert to Islam
Generally, many people understand that Islam is the final divine religion. What I mean by "divine religion" is a faith that originates from God (Allah). Islam was conveyed by the Prophet Muhammad as the last Prophet and Messenger of Allah.
That is correct. You are not wrong if you understand Islam in the way it has been described above. However, there are some other simple explanations that can further clarify what Islam truly is.
We can find a more detailed explanation in the hadith below:
From Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: "While we were sitting with Allah's Messenger (Prophet Muhammad) (peace and blessings be upon him), suddenly, a man with very white clothes and very black hair came to us. We saw no signs of travel on him, and we did not recognize him. He then sat close to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), leaned his knees against his (Prophet Muhammad's) knees, and placed his hands on his thighs. Then he said, 'O Muhammad, inform me about Islam.' He (Prophet Muhammad) replied, 'Islam is to bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, to establish prayer, to give zakat, to fast during Ramadan, and to perform Hajj if you are able to do so.'" (The hadith continues.)
Based on the hadith above, we can summarize Islam in simple words as follows:
- Testifying that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is His Messenger.
- Performing the five daily prayers (Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha).
- Paying zakat (for those obligated to do so).
- Fasting during Ramadan.
- Performing Hajj (for those who are financially and physically capable).
These five points are known as the five pillars of Islam. We find this explanation in another hadith:
From Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them), he said: "The Messenger of Allah (Prophet Muhammad) (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Islam is built upon five pillars: testifying that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is His Messenger, performing prayers, paying zakat, fasting during Ramadan, and performing Hajj.'"
This is a brief explanation of "What is Islam in simple words?" As Muslims, we must understand this concept.
Is It True That Islam Is the Best Religion for Us?
The second key point regarding the best guidelines to convert to Islam in the Philippines is answering the question: "Is it true that Islam is the best religion for us?"
In general, there are two main reasons why Islam is the best religion:
- Islam guarantees happiness in both this world and the hereafter for those who sincerely practice its teachings.
- The authenticity of the two main sources of Islam, the Quran and the Hadith, has been preserved throughout history. This ensures that Muslims follow divine teachings that remain unchanged.
While these two points require extensive discussion, in simple terms, if you ask, "Is Islam the best religion?" the answer is undoubtedly "Yes! Islam is the best religion for us."
Is Converting to Islam Allowed?
The third key point is: "Is converting to Islam allowed?" The answer is a definite "Yes!" However, conversion must be based on the six articles of faith in Islam:
- Belief in Allah.
- Belief in Allah's angels.
- Belief in Allah's messengers.
- Belief in Allah's revealed books.
- Belief in the Day of Judgment.
- Belief in predestination (both good and bad).
