عَنْ أَنَسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ قَنِتَ شَهْرًا , بَعْدَ رُكُوْعٍ , يَدَعْوُا عَلَى أَحْيَاءٍ مِنَ الْعَرَبِ ثُمَّ تَرَكَهُ . مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ

From Anas radliyallahu anhu: "The Prophet (Muhammad) sallallahu alaihi wa sallam performed Qunoot for one month after bowing. He prayed for the defeat of a group of Arabs, then he left (did not continue Qunoot)." This hadith is narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim.

وَلِأَحْمَدَ وَالدَّارُقُطْنِيِّ وَنَحْوِهِ مِنْ وَجْهٍ آخَرٍ , وَزَادَ : وَأَمَّا فِيْ الصُّبْحِ فَلَمْ يَزَلْ يَقْنَتُ حَتَّى فَارَقَ الدُّنْيَا

Ahmad and ad-Darquthni have a version of the same hadith from other transmission lines, with an additional note: "As for the Fajr prayer, he continued to perform Qunoot until he passed away."

عَنْ جَابِرٍ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا أَنَّ رَسُوْلَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَامَ فِيْ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ ثُمَّ انْتَظَرُوْهُ مِنَ الْقَابِلَةِ فَلَمْ يَخْرُجْ وَقَالَ ؛ إِنِّيْ خَشِيْتُ أَنْ يُكْتَبَ عَلَيْكُمْ الْوِتْرُ . رَوَاهُ ابْنُ حِبَّانٍ

From Jabir bin Abdillah radliyallahu anhuma: "The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam performed tarawih prayer during the month of Ramadan. Then they waited for him the next night, but he did not come out and said, 'Indeed, I am worried that the Witr prayer will be made obligatory for you.'" This hadith is narrated by Ibn Hibban.

عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ ؛ قَالَ رَسُوْلُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؛ أَوْتِرُوْا يَا أَهْلَ الْقُرْآنِ فَإِنَّ اللهَ وِتْرٌ يُحِبُّ الْوِتْرَ . رَوَاهُ الْخَمْسَةٌ

From Ali radliyallahu anhu: "Allah's Messenger sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said, 'Pray Witr, O Ahlu Quran! Indeed, Allah is one and likes the Witr prayer.'" This hadith is narrated by five scholars (Ahmad, Abu Daud, at-Tirmidhi, an-Nasa'i, Ibn Majah).

عَنْ أَبِيْ أَيُّوْبَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُوْلَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ ؛ الْوِتْرُ حَقٌّ عَلَى كُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ ، مَنْ أَحَبَّ أَنْ يُوْتِرَ بِخَمْسٍ فَلْيَفْعَلْ ، وَمَنْ أَحَبَّ أَنْ يُوْتِرَ بِثَلَاثٍ فَلْيَفْعَلْ ، وَمَنْ أَحَبَّ أَنْ يُوْتِرَ بِوَاحِدَةٍ فَلْيَفْعَلْ . رَوَاهُ الْأَرْبَعَةُ إِلَّا التِّرْمِذِيُّ

From Abu Ayyub al-Ansari radliyallahu anhu: "The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said, 'Witr is a right upon every Muslim. Whoever wishes to pray five rakats, let him do so; whoever wishes to pray three rakats, let him do so; and whoever wishes to pray one rakat, let him do so.'" This hadith is narrated by four scholars, except at-Tirmidhi (Abu Daud, an-Nasa'i, Ibn Majah).
