Obligation to Wash Both Hands After Waking Up in Islam
Obligation to Wash Both Hands After Waking Up for Muslim ~ Hi all readers! In this article, I will explain the obligation to wash both hands after waking up for a Muslim. Indeed, this discussion looks trivial, but it's important. I say that is important because the discussion this time relates to the status of the hand after waking up; unclean or not. That is because when someone is sleeping, he does not know that his hand is touching anything.
As always, before I explain the obligation to wash both hands after waking up for Muslim, I will present one hadith of Prophet Muhammad below;
Hadith About the Obligation to Wash Both Hands After Waking Up for Muslim
The hadith about the obligation to wash both hands after waking up for Muslim that I mean is as follows:
From Abu Hurairah radliyallahu anhu, (Prophet Muhammad sallalla alaihi wa sallam said), "If one of you has woken up from his sleep, then he should not put his hand in the container (which contains water) until he washed it (his hands) three times, because he did not know where his hand had stayed overnight." The hadith was narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim.
All readers! If we pay attention to the hadith above, we know several things as follows;
- If something unclean falls into a little water, so it can make the water unclean.
- There is a difference about flowing water into unclean and unclean water into the water. The order of the Prophet Muhammad in the hadith above is flowing water into the hands that might be unclean.
- The majority of Islamic law experts say that washing both hands after waking up is a suggestion. Imam Ahmad said that it was an obligation.
- If we are embarrassed to reveal something, then we are encouraged to use figurative language to say it. In the hadith above, the Prophet Muhammad used the common language, "Because he did not know where his hand had stayed overnight." He did not say, "Maybe his hand has touched his anus or penis."
- We must be careful when we understand the Quran and Hadith. We must not underestimate or even laugh at his words, "Because he does not know where his hand has stayed overnight."
That's is the brief description of the obligation to wash both hands after waking up for Muslim and the differing opinions of Islamic law experts about it. I hope, after we read this article, we are not angry if we see people who do things that are different from what we do.
I think that is enough for this article. May be useful! Amen!
See you again in the next article!
