How to Perform Tawbah for Zina? Find Out Here!
Hi all readers! Are you looking for an explanation of "How to perform Tawbah for Zina?"? If your answer is "Yes," congratulations! You are reading the right article. Why? Because that is what I will explain here. As Muslims, it is essential for us to understand this topic. That's why I wrote this article, so be sure to read it until the end!
Specifically, there are some important points about "How to perform Tawbah for Zina" that I will cover. Here are the key points:
Why Is Tawbah for Zina Important?
The important point about "How to perform Tawbah for Zina" is understanding why Tawbah for Zina is crucial. I want you to grasp this before diving deeper into the explanations, so you understand the urgency of this discussion.
In Islamic law, Zina refers to sexual relations outside of marriage, which is prohibited in Islam. This involves men and women engaging in sexual acts without being husband and wife. Typically, this is carried out using the vital organs.
In Islam, Zina is one of the most heinous sins. Therefore, Muslims are strictly forbidden from engaging in anything that might lead them to commit Zina. We can find this in the following Quranic verse:
And do not approach unlawful sexual intercourse. Indeed, it is ever an immorality and is evil as a way. (Al-Isra [17]: 32)
To understand why Tawbah for Zina is important, you must recognize the consequences of Zina in Islam. It's vital to comprehend the severe repercussions of committing Zina, which I will explain in the next few paragraphs.
There are many consequences of Zina in Islam. Muslims who commit adultery will face punishment both in this world and in the hereafter. This is another reason why Zina is strictly prohibited.
One consequence of Zina is the diminishing of faith in those who commit it. This is illustrated in the following hadith:
If a person commits Zina, then his faith decreases (the light of his faith is lost) as if he is being covered by a cloud (above his head). If he refrains from Zina, that faith will return to him.
In Islam, if the incidence of Zina increases, it signifies that the Day of Judgment is approaching; Zina is one of the signs of this day. We can find this explanation in the following hadith:
Indeed, among the signs of the coming of the Last Day are the lifting of knowledge, the rise of ignorance, widespread consumption of alcohol, and the open commission of Zina.
As one of the major sins, Zina has fatal consequences in this world and the hereafter. I will not elaborate much on the consequences in the hereafter, as the conclusion is clear: the person who commits Zina will face severe punishment in Hell.
If a Muslim commits Zina before marriage, they must be lashed a hundred times and exiled to a place (please note: this was Islamic law during the time of Prophet Muhammad and some time thereafter). We can find this in the following verses of the Quran and hadith:
The [unmarried] woman or [unmarried] man found guilty of sexual intercourse - lash each one of them with a hundred lashes, and do not be taken by pity for them in the religion of Allah, if you should believe in Allah and the Last Day. And let a group of the believers witness their punishment. (An-Nur 24:2)
Al-Bukhari has narrated a hadith from Abu Hurairah, that the Prophet (Muhammad) sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam made a legal decision for people who committed Zina before marriage, by being exiled and punished.
If a Muslim commits Zina after marriage, they must be flogged until they die (please note: this was Islamic law during the time of Prophet Muhammad and some time thereafter). We can find this explanation in the following hadith:
From Abu Hurairah radliyallahu anhu, he said, "There was a Muslim who came to the Messenger of Allah (Prophet Muhammad) sallallahu alayhi wa sallam while he was in the mosque. The Muslim then called him, 'O Messenger of Allah, indeed I have committed Zina.' He turned away from the Muslim. The person repeated, 'O Messenger of Allah, indeed I have committed Zina,' and the Prophet turned away again. This was repeated four times. When that person had testified for himself four times, Allah's Messenger then asked, 'Are you crazy?' The person replied, 'No.' He asked, 'Are you married?' The person replied, 'Yes.' Allah's Messenger sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam then said, 'Go with him and lash him.' This hadith was narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim.
That’s a brief explanation of "Why Tawbah for Zina is important." As Muslims, we must understand this.

The important aspect of "How to perform Tawbah for Zina?" that I will explain now is "How to perform Tawbah for Zina before marriage and after marriage?" I want you to understand this because it is one of the key questions regarding Tawbah for Zina.
In short, there are six essential steps you can take for Tawbah for Zina, both before and after marriage:
- You must always remember that Zina is a great sin.

Why on Friday? Reading Salawat on Friday carries many virtues, particularly for repentance. We can find this in the following hadiths:
From Abu Hurairah radliyallahu anhu, he said, "The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said, 'Reading Salawat to me is the light above the Shirath (bridge to Heaven). Whoever reads Salawat to me on Friday eighty times, Allah will forgive all his sins committed over eighty years.'"
The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said, "Whoever reads Salawat to me on Friday a thousand times will not die until he sees his place in Heaven."
From Abu Dharr radliyallahu anhu, he said, "The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said, 'Whoever reads Salawat to me on Friday, all his sins committed over two hundred years will be forgiven.'"
